Thirteen Israeli women and children hostages were released on Friday as part of a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to free civilians taken during the Oct. 7 terror attack.
The Israeli hostages have been transferred to the Red Cross in Gaza and are on their way to a border crossing with Egypt, Israeli media reported.
The release comes weeks after American Judith Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter, Natalie, were freed on Friday, followed by two Israeli women, Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, and Nurit Yitzhak, 79, who were handed over to the Red Cross on Monday.
Lifshitz and Yitzhak, whose husband is still a hostage, were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The terrorist group said on its Telegram channel that it released them on “compelling humanitarian” grounds.
Lifshitz was abducted and taken through a “spider web” of tunnels by his captors, he claimed at a news conference Tuesday.
He also said the terrorists – who had killed babies – were “friendly in their way” and said they were “gentle with us, our needs were provided for.”
They make sure we eat the food they eat: white cheese and cucumber — that’s the whole day’s meal,” he said.
Abu Ubaiba – a military spokesman from the Al-Qassam Brigades, which operates in the West Bank – claimed that Hamas was willing to release the two women despite Israel’s refusal to stop its airstrikes against the terrorist group.
