3 people dead, 1 critically injured in neighborhood dispute in Colorado, as gunman remains on the loose

A manhunt is underway in Colorado for a man accused of killing three people and leaving another in critical condition over a property dispute.

Hanme K. Clark, 45, allegedly opened fire on four victims in a wooded area near Rocky Ridge Road outside Westville around 1 p.m. Monday.

Two men and a woman were shot and killed before Custer County sheriff’s deputies arrived, the department said, and a fourth victim — another woman — was flown to Colorado Springs, then flown to Denver in critical condition after taking “multiple” bullets to the chest.

He is expected to survive, the sheriff’s office said.

Each victim was shot multiple times, authorities said, and at least one of the victims had a “prior civil dispute over a property line” with Clark.

It’s unclear how many people were involved in the property dispute, but a land surveyor was also at the scene and was able to flee to safety, according to KOAA.

Following the shooting, a protective order was in place as several law enforcement agencies, including state police and a local SWAT team, were involved in a standoff with Clark, who somehow managed to slip through police lines and flee in a white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck .

A protective order at the scene was lifted around 8:15 p.m. as law enforcement worked to locate the suspect — who they believe is now in another city.

“We have very good leads as to almost exactly where the suspect and the vehicle are, and we are working with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend him,” a Custer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said at a news conference.

Meanwhile, anyone who sees Clark or the vehicle — which has a camper shell on top and a Colorado license plate that reads BHLK27 — is being warned not to approach it.

Chaffee County police, who assisted in the search, have described Clark as 6-foot-3 and about 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

He may have been accompanied by a woman, although police have not described her appearance or her relationship with Clark.
