3-year-old girl mauled by dog on play date, leading to hours-long facial surgery

A 3-year-old girl was viciously attacked by a dog in England, requiring three hours of facial surgery.

Young Eloise Smith was playing at a friend’s house in Doncaster, South Yorkshire on December 1 when the family’s Staffordshire-Terrier mix attacked her, according to her family.

The girl’s mother, Stacey Louise Murray, told SWNS she started to feel nauseous after she rushed home to find Eloise covered in blood and with bite wounds to the bone on her face — but she had to calm down.

“She was crying when I got home and her face was wrapped in a white towel,” Stacey told the outlet.

“When I reached out to get him and the towel fell to reveal his injuries, it made me feel sick, but I couldn’t show any emotion because it would make him feel worse,” she said.

“My partner couldn’t see it – it just made him cry,” she said, adding that they wished they could have been there when it happened.

Despite suffering severe injuries, the little boy who “survived” appeared to forgive his attacker.

“Apparently the dog bit him once, let him go, and then he sat next to him and he sat next to the dog trying to calm him down,” Stacey said.

They rushed Eloise to Rotherham Hospital, where she underwent a three-hour operation.

“He had a continuous bite on the bottom of his right cheek up to his jaw and then he had a cut in the corner of his eye that needed stitches,” Stacey said.

“He has another cut that needs stitches and a cut on his cheekbone that needs stitches as well.”

The poor girl blamed herself for the attack, Eloise’s mother said.

“He said when we were in hospital, ‘it’s my fault, I’m sorry’,” Stacey said. “It broke my heart to hear him say that.”

South Yorkshire Police said they responded to reports of the incident and are investigating.

No arrests were made, but police said in a statement that “the dog was later destroyed.”

Stacey said while she was initially “very angry” at the family after the incident, “but as time went on the emotions subsided and now Elouise has come out on the other side.”

“They feel it too,” he said, adding that they remain friends. “I can’t imagine having to call someone to tell them their dog has bitten their child.

The distraught mother says that now she is afraid to leave her daughter.

“I’m not necessarily worried about any possible scarring because it’s his own story to tell as he gets older but I’m worried about leaving him alone with anyone at the moment – he hasn’t left me and I don’t think he will for a while. temporary.”

“We let him go out to dinner and play dates,” Stacey said. “We can’t go back, it’s happened now.”
