A Florida man was in the right place when he started having a heart attack while out for dinner with his family – little did he know there were four real-life angels at the next table.
Eddy Montero was visiting his daughter and meeting one of his grandchildren for the first time in the Lake Nona region of Orlando, Florida, where they met for dinner when he began feeling dizzy and collapsed.
Montero had suffered a heart attack, but luckily for him, a local doctor and three residents were finishing their food and sprang into action.
Dr. Nicole Brenner, a physician at Florida Hospital Osceola HCA, and three residents — Drs. Sonia Alicea, Dr. Amanda Rivera and Dr. Suhail Saad-Omer — everything switches to medical mode to save the man.
All the training the residents have gone through comes in handy when they turn into a makeshift emergency room to help the suffering Montero.
“We immediately checked for a pulse, and as soon as there was an identification that there was no pulse and he was in cardiac arrest, CPR was immediately started,” Brenner told WESH.

Brenner said she was grateful to have three residents with her as she was 35 weeks pregnant.
“Dr. Saad-Omer requested emergency assistance, helping to identify if there was any additional support in the area. Both Dr. Alicea and Dr. Rivera was able to both start CPR and take over for me because it was a bit of a challenge,” added Brenner.
Montero referred to his saviors as “angels who appeared in front of him” and told the outlet from his hospital room that they were the reason he was alive.
Fabiana Montero thanked God that the doctors were so close because they saved her father’s life.

“It really felt like we were supposed to be there,” Brenner said.
In another coincidence, Saad-Omer was assigned to treat Montero when he was later taken to Florida Hospital Osceola HCA.
In March, a top Florida doctor helped save a man who suffered a heart attack in an incident similar to Montero’s.
Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was attending an event in the state capital when he saw a commotion in the crowd and found a man in distress.

“We laid him on the ground and we couldn’t feel a pulse,” Ladapo told the Floridian.
Ladapo and two other doctors used a defibrillator on the man, shocked his heart, and performed CPR until he regained consciousness and was eventually taken to hospital.
