55-year-old once targeted in ex-wife’s murder-for-hire plot busted in Vegas with $100K after current wife, 26, found dead at home

A Pennsylvania man, once the target of a murder-for-hire plot, was arrested at a Las Vegas casino Tuesday after his 26-year-old wife was found dead in their home — and officials believe she was ready to flee the US.

Arthur Eugene Guty Jr., 55, faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of his wife Franyerlys Nicold “Nicole” Zambrano Briceno, who died of “a gunshot wound to a vital part of the body,” according to WTAE.

Zambrano’s Nemacolin Woodlands Resort co-workers reported her missing on Dec. 24 in Farmington, Pa., when the maid failed to show up for work for several days, the outlet added.

Uniontown police were unable to contact her during a welfare check at her home last Friday and opened an investigation into Zambrano’s disappearance.

“Through the investigation, we’re receiving more tips, following up on all of that,” said Uniontown police Lt. Thomas Kolencik. “With the help of some forensic evidence and some technology, we were able to secure a search warrant for the house (Monday), where we found our victim was deceased.”

Zambrano was found in a bedroom in the home he shared with Guty on Monday and police found a .357 Magnum revolver in a separate room.

Guty was named the first and only suspect in the case, as investigators became wary of him after their conversation with the man and issued an arrest warrant on Monday.

“He could not explain where his wife was, when he gave us information, it was not accurate,” added Kolencik.

Guty had left the Pennsylvania town days before his wife was reported missing, telling neighbors he and Zambrano were on a cross-country trip.

“Three days before Christmas and he’s gone and I don’t know where he went or what he did,” Bob Luick told WTAE, with the neighbor recalling his phone call with the suspected killer.

“I said, ‘Art, where are you?’ but we didn’t know about Nicole yet, and she said, ‘I’m in Kansas and we’re going up to the Grand Canyon.’ He said, ‘We’re going up to the Grand Canyon,’” Luick recalled.

Police arrested Guty while he was having breakfast at the Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino on Tuesday.

Guty was carrying about $100,000 in cash when he was arrested and officials believe he was preparing to leave the US.

“It was an obvious murder. And he obviously didn’t want to come in to talk to us,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele told KDKA-TV. “He is on his way, we believe, out of the country, with a large amount of cash and will try to avoid any responsibility for what happened here. So, I would say there is a level of callousness here.”

Roxanne Guty was arrested in 2019 after offering a hitman a life insurance policy split payment of $50,000 to kill her husband, with whom she co-owned a Marathon gas station, WTAE reported at the time.

He was given a lesser sentence and is being held in the Fayette County Jail, according to the outlet.

Guty is scheduled to appear before a fugitive judge Thursday morning, according to court records.
