60% believe the president ‘helped and participated’ in Hunter Biden’s business dealings

More than half of Americans believe President Biden has involvement in his son’s foreign business dealings, according to a new poll.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll of 2,851 registered voters, released Monday, found that 60% believed “Joe Biden helped and participated in Hunter Biden’s business,” while 40% responded that they did not think the 81-year-old president had any involvement.

“Although the news has moved on to other topics, voters remain concerned about Hunter Biden and how President Biden is involved in his business,” Harris Poll Chairman Mark Penn said in a statement to the Hill.

“Hunter receives high disfavor ratings — worse than the president — and most believe the president at least knows about his dealings,” Penn added.

Hunter’s 55% unfavorable rating was the highest among the more than two dozen public figure respondents asked to rate.

President Biden’s 48% disapproval rating was the second highest.

The president claims he has never had a business conversation with his 53-year-old son and has repeatedly denied knowledge of his dealings despite emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop and congressional testimony from the first son’s former business partner Devon Archer suggesting otherwise.

Then-Vice President Joe Biden dined at the Washington, DC Cafe Milano at least twice with Hunter and some of his shady business associates, Archer told lawmakers in July.

The first dinner included former Moscow first lady Yelena Baturina, who would later send $3.5 million to a company linked to Hunter and Archer; Kazakh businessman Kenes Rakishev, who wired $142,300 to spend on luxury cars for Hunter; and former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, Archer said.

“[Joe Biden] enter the room and shake everyone’s hand,” Archer said.

The second banquet was attended by Burisma gas company executive Vadym Pozharskyi, “Hunter, Joe, myself, Karim Massimov, a Greek Orthodox priest, maybe someone from [the] World Food Program,” said Archer.

“[Joe Biden] dinner. He had dinner,” Archer recalled of the second Cafe Milano meeting.

Emails from Hunter’s laptop also show the first son informing participants that “Dad will be there but keep it between us for now” and Pozharskyi thanked Hunter the morning after, writing, “Thanks for inviting me to DC and give a chance to meet your dad and spend time together.”

Archer also revealed that Joe Biden, again while vice president, “had coffee” with Jonathan Li, CEO of the Chinese government-backed investment fund BHR Partners and Hunter, which holds a 10% stake in BHR until at least 2021, then put his father was on speaker phone with Li as well.

In July 2017, Hunter told a Chinese business associate that he “sat down” with his father and both “wanted to understand why the commitments made were not met,” according to WhatsApp messages disclosed to Congress by an IRS whistleblower investigating the eldest son’s finances.

The Republican-led House impeachment inquiry into President Biden, launched in September, is seeking to determine the scope of the president’s alleged involvement in his family’s extensive foreign business dealings and whether the president committed any wrongdoing.
