“The Golden Bachelor” is coming soon and fans can’t wait to watch “The Bachelor” spinoff reality show. The new show will focus on those over the age of 60 who are looking for love, according to Hollywood Reporterand now we have our first look at who will be in the lead.

This morning, ABC announced that 71-year-old Gerry Turner will be the new lead on “The Golden Bachelor.” Turner is the first senior to find love in the “Bachelor” franchise and fans can’t wait for the new show to air.
“He broadcasts his thirst traps in leather-bound albums. His DM has a post… He’s not gray, he’s got ‘wisdom.’ Florida wants to retire, and move to it,” the tease said.
In addition to giving the first look at Turner in the new promo, ABC also released details about who Turner is. “A retired restaurateur and loving father and grandfather, Gerry [GAIR-ee] Turner lives in his dream home on a beautiful lake in Indiana,” ABC said. “He was always busy hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports team, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at local restaurants and residences.”
Their press release continued, “Always a romantic, Turner married his high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1974. Together, they lived a full and happy life with their two daughters, Angie and Jenny, and later two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton. Sadly, after 43 years together, Toni suddenly fell ill and passed away in 2017.”
“Six years after Toni’s death and with the support of her family, Turner is ready to put herself out there and find a love that will stand the test of time in her golden years,” ABC concludes.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts after seeing Gerry Turner for the first time, and finding out more about who the 71-year-old is.
“This guy looks great for his age. Interesting he just wants someone who is energetic and plays pickleball or golf. Sounds like he still loves his wife and hasn’t gone through the full grieving process!!!,” one fan said tweeted.
“Wow!! handsome! #Gerryatric,” another said write.
A “Bachelor” fan. tweeted, “He does fit the bachelor mold (thought he was Jesse from behind!) glad to see them sticking to what they do best (insert sarcasm!). That being said, we are excited to watch and look forward to this new season,” said another by, “He seems kind and humble. Good luck to him! Excited not to see a bunch of immature men and women fighting on this show.”
As other fans expressed, “Obsessed with Gerry (pronounced Gary) and can’t wait for the season premiere of The Golden Bachelor.” While one fan called the new leader “handsome” because of them tweeted“Hey that 71 year old golden bachelor is handsome!”
The franchise announced a senior spinoff, “The Golden Bachelor” in May of this year. “After more than 20 years of nurturing young love on ‘The Bachelor,’ ‘The Bachelorette,’ and ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ ‘The Golden Bachelor’ showcases a new kind of love story — one for the golden years,” ABC said in a statement. the press announced an upcoming reality series.
According to the press release, “a hopeless romantic” will be “given a second chance at love in search of a partner to share life’s sunset years.”
