A Nevada man who says he was molested by his babysitter since age 8 grilled the 80-year-old convicted pedophile in a courtroom after learning he would be released from prison.
Tylor Fu, now 29, was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges after nailing Richard Gross in the face during his sentencing on Oct. 2, authorities said.
In an interview with 8NewsNow last week, Fu admitted he was “very angry” when Gross’ plea deal was announced.
“I know he’s old, but that doesn’t change anything like that, doesn’t change the damage he’s caused, the horrible effects I’ve had to go through for decades, and that’s not justice at all,” the station’s Fu said.
Gross was leaving the courtroom with his wife and attorney when Fu stood up and punched the octogenarian in the face, knocking him to the floor, according to an arrest report obtained by 8NewsNow.
Gross later complained that he passed out for a moment and had to be taken to the hospital. His wife told police his glasses were broken.
After his arrest, Fu issued a statement through his lawyer expressing remorse for his violence — but also seeking to justify it.

“While it was on a somewhat cathartic level, my actions in court were not justified,” the statement read in part. “I was overcome with emotion at the trial, which made me feel better. I and I are deeply troubled by the fact that Richard Gross did not receive a prison sentence, but I understand that this sometimes happens in criminal proceedings.
Gross, a friend of the Fu family, was initially charged with 26 felony counts of sexual abuse stemming from years of molestation. But as part of a deal with prosecutors, he was allowed to enter an “Alford plea” to one count of attempted lewdness with a child under 14.
An “Alford plea” is a type of guilty plea in which the defendant does not admit to committing a crime but agrees that the prosecution has enough evidence to secure a conviction.

Under the plea agreement, the now-convicted abuser, against whom Fu had testified in court, was sentenced to a suspended sentence of 60 to 180 months in state prison.
Only if Gross violates the terms of his probation will he be sent to prison to serve his sentence.
Kasar is prohibited from using alcohol and marijuana; he must live at least 1,000 feet from schools and other facilities and places used by children. He must also register as a sex offender with lifetime supervision.
Fu claims Gross began sexually abusing her while babysitting when she was 8, and the molestation continued until she was 15.
“It’s ridiculous how someone can abuse children so many times and just walk away without any jail time,” Fu said.

Fu only reported Gross to police in 2019 after his wife showed him an article about sexual abuse, he said.
“I really tried to shake it off and move on and be strong, but as you get older, you start to realize what’s wrong, and I see exactly where my problems are coming from,” Fu added.
In 2021, Fu filed a civil suit against Gross and his wife, accusing them of assault and battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.
Fu claims Gross molested her at her home, in his pickup truck and on camping trips. His wife is said to be “aware of her husband’s penchant for small children/boys” but did nothing to protect Fu.

As he molested Fu, Gross allegedly warned him, “Don’t tell anyone, including your mother” — and said he wanted them both to feel good, according to the complaint.
A trial date has been set in the lawsuit for February 5, 2024.
Meanwhile, Fu is scheduled in court on December 7 to answer the battery charge.
