The nine teenagers who escaped from a Pennsylvania juvenile detention center were all recaptured early Monday, less than 12 hours after they escaped during the riot.
The teenagers – between 15 and 17 – escaped shortly after 8pm on Sunday from Abraxas Academy in New Morgan, less than 15 miles from where convicted killer Danelo Cavalcante was recaptured last week after two weeks on the run.
The latest escapee made it out by overpowering two officers during the riot, Pennsylvania State Police spokesman David Boehm said earlier Monday.
“They were able to get a key and then they were able to get out the side door, or one of the doors,” Boehm said.
After passing through the fence surrounding the facility, possibly by going under it, the escapees tried to break into a car in the middle of the night.

“I don’t know what woke up the homeowner, but they broke the car window, the lights were on, and then they took off,” a state police spokesman said of the botched car theft.
Four of the juveniles were collared just before 6 a.m. on Oak Grove Road in New Morgan, about 4 miles from the juvenile detention center, the Reading Eagle reported.
The other four were captured about 6:30 a.m. The last fugitive tried to escape into the field but was captured, officials said.
Some of them said they were tired and cold after spending the night on the run, Boehm said.
The teenager has not been identified.

The nearby Twin Valley School District has announced that all its schools and offices will be closed, and that all after-school and evening activities will be canceled on Monday “out of an abundance of caution.”
Abraxas Academy is described as a “multi-service facility” with a “secure” treatment program for delinquent males from ages “14 to 18 in grade 9 or above,” according to the facility’s website.
This is the second riot at the juvenile center in less than three months, according to WFMZ.
A perimeter has been set up around the academy and law enforcement is asking the public to call 911 if they see someone matching the description of the runaway teenager.CBS News Philadelphia
The rampage was previously reported on July 4 and involved about 50 teenagers who broke water pipes, fire alarms and video surveillance equipment.
It took about 40 officers from various police departments five hours to subdue the mob.
