A 19-year-old mother has died a week after she was shot during a fight near Georgia State University’s Atlanta campus — injuring three others.
De’Asia Hart was hospitalized in critical condition after the shooting erupted around 5 a.m. on Oct. 27, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Hart died from his injuries on Sunday.
He leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter, his family told WSB-TV.
Hart “was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend,” Hart’s family told the outlet in a heartbreaking statement.
She is an aspiring lawyer and plans to enroll in school this spring.
“While we mourn the loss of a beautiful young woman, we also celebrate her extraordinary life. He left behind a daughter who was the last time he would see her mother. His mother couldn’t tell him ‘Goodbye’ or ‘I Love You’,” his family said.

Police said that an argument among a large group of individuals escalated into a shooting at the RaceTrac convenience store in downtown Atlanta, police told reporters at a news conference last week.
Four people were caught in the crossfire, police said. The four victims “had no involvement” in the fight, said Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Lt. Germain Dearlove.
Three of the victims, a man and two women, took themselves to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

“Real friends don’t need to talk every day. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I pray god gives you the strength to be strong. Love you girl! My Tyson colleague,” said Tanneka Adkinson.
A funeral has been scheduled for this Saturday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Americus.
Hart’s family is appealing for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. They have also called on Mayor Andre Dickens to “take a strong stand on gun control in the city,” and demanded answers from the police about their response.
“We asked the GSU to explain why a patrol car was parked on the other side of the road and did not provide assistance. We are asking the city to look at the 911 call center and re-evaluate the need so that there is a faster response time and actual calls are being answered,” his family said.
“We need justice for De’Asia. We want justice for everyone who is facing this situation,” he said.
