A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Aaron Carter’s two-year-old son, Princeton Lyric Carter, nearly a year after the singer was found dead in a bathtub at his California home.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the family alleges that doctors and pharmacies contributed to Carter’s death by prescribing and dispensing inappropriate medications that affected his mental state.
Carter died in November 2022, with the cause of death attributed to suffocation after inhaling compressed difluoroethane and ingesting alprazolam.

The lawsuit alleges that medical and pharmacy professionals are responsible for the death of the “I Want Candy” star due to the inappropriate prescription and dispensing of medication, which affected his mental state and judgment.
In the filing, Aaron’s doctor is accused of prescribing Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam without medical justification while being aware of Carter’s “mental health and psychiatric condition.”
The lawsuit specifically identifies Walgreens, among others, as a defendant, arguing that the combination of prescribed drugs, their quantity and Carter’s psychiatric history should have raised red flags for the pharmacy.
Aaron Carter ‘Drowned’ In The Bathtub Of His California Home

In November 2022, Carter was found dead in a bathtub at her home in Lancaster, California by her housekeeper. His death was officially confirmed by a representative stating that the family was “deeply saddened and shocked to confirm the death of Aaron Carter.”
The 34-year-old man’s cause of death was attributed to drowning, the result of inhalation of compressed difluoroethane (commonly known as huffing) and ingestion of alprazolam (Xanax). An autopsy revealed that the substance rendered him “incapacitated” in the bathtub, leading to his tragic drowning.

At the time, Carter’s mother, Jane Carter, voiced her doubts about the cause of death, suspecting foul play rather than a drug overdose. Carter’s partner Martin also told the media that the report offered no closure and that it was “absurd.”
He questioned the explanation citing drowning as the cause of death, stating: “It claims death was by drowning but also adds he was wearing a T-shirt and a chain in the bathtub which makes no sense, why is he in the bathtub with clothes on?”
She added: “I’m still in shock and still miss Aaron every day. I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only makes us ask more questions.”
Both Martin and Carter’s mother also pointed out that the LA County Coroner’s Office had informed them that no water was found in Aaron’s lungs, casting doubt on the drowning theory.
At the time, Nick Carter, Backstreet Boys star and Carter’s brother, commented on the tragedy, saying, “Addiction and mental illness are the real villains here.”
Melanie Martin Reveals Suspected Drug Deal

Carter’s mother and her partner, Martin, are pushing for an investigation into a suspected drug deal on the night of his death, believing it may have led to an overdose.
In an interview with TMZMartin revealed that he found a text message on Carter’s phone from an individual demanding $800 for an unspecified substance.
Carter, who had previous rehab experiences in 2011 and 2017, responded that he no longer needed the substance, to which the individual claimed he still owed the money.
The exchange led to Carter asking if she was being threatened, and at this point, the message was abruptly concluded. Martin shared that he has presented this text exchange as evidence to the Los Angeles Police Department.
In an interview with Page Six, Martin previously mentioned that Carter struggles to escape his inner “demons.” He stated that he often found himself drawn back into the partying lifestyle even as he tried to stay sober.

Carter’s twin sister, Angel, recently revealed her headstone with an emotional post on social media.
She wrote at the time, “Aaron’s portrait was placed this morning at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. He adored his fans, and I know how much it means to him now to have a final resting place where we can all celebrate his life.”
Angel added, “I invite you to visit, share your memories, and never forget who Aaron is deep down.”
