“He looks thin. He’s very tired,” the manager said, adding, “He looks like he should be doing nothing but work. He looks like he needs to be taken care of.”

At the time, the pair had met at a music studio to discuss a new album Carter was working on. However, after seeing his client’s appearance, Helgeson was surprised by how quickly the former teen pop star had deteriorated.

Big Umbrella Management executives also insisted that the artist did not appear to be mentally impaired in any way throughout the tour.

Carter’s body was allegedly surrounded by compressed air cans and pill bottles when she was found dead in her Lancaster, Calif., home on November 5.

This discovery has led many to speculate that he had taken his own life, although police have yet to reveal the official cause of his death.

Manager Carter did not share this same view, telling Page Six that his client’s enthusiasm about the future ruled out any possibility that he was taking such a heavy decision.

“He’s a guy with a lot of plans,” Helgeson said, recounting his last day with the singer, whom he had managed for eight months. “We’ve got so much going on, and, you know, Aaron’s also a very proud guy in his own right. That’s just not his style.”

Although Helgeson insisted that the “Aaron Party” singer was not suicidal, he acknowledged that his client still struggles with addiction.

In the days before Carter’s death, the couple had discussed plans for the singer to enter an inpatient rehab program, which the father-of-one had resisted for a while.

“We suggest [what] maybe … three months in Utah just to detox and formulate new physical habits in your body,” Helgeson said.

At the time, Carter was more concerned about trying to regain custody of his son Prince, who he shares with Instagram influencer Melanie Martin.
