Well, not new… different. Following the stroke, the 61-year-old quit smoking without slowing down, and he started exercising every day, “I took a lot of medicine. You can hear the pills shaking inside me,” he joked to the publication.
Sorkin initially planned to keep his diagnosis to himself but instead realized it could help someone out there spot the signs before their health takes a turn for the worst. The Oscar winner became giddy at one point wondering if he would ever write again.
“There was a minute when I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to write anymore. And I was worried in the short term that I wouldn’t be able to continue writing ‘Camelot.'” he said of the Broadway musical, which opens in April.

As for tasting the food, it’s a struggle for Sorkin. But he doesn’t want any sympathy for his situation because he’s on the up and up. “Let me make this clear. I’m good. I don’t want anyone to think I can’t work. I’m good.”
Sorkin is used to dealing with struggles in his life and giving up some of his pleasures is not a big deal to him. He battled cocaine addiction for several years and it has given him the confidence to continue.
“My biggest fear when I quit drugs was that I wouldn’t be able to write anymore,” he said in 2017. “Because if you’re a writer and you’re at the top of the list – and I’m on the list when I’m high – you don’t want to change anything- what about the way you work.”
He’s been sober for 11 years now and that’s what’s contributing to him pushing through this current setback. The Some Good Men the writer is getting there and regaining the confidence needed to move forward.
