Golden Globe winner Tyler James Williams reflects on almost losing his life after being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.
The actor shared that he was informed that he had the disease after visiting a gastroenterologist due to severe stomach discomfort and not being able to keep liquids or food down.
After undergoing surgery to help manage the pain, Williams developed complications and had to eat only food for months through an IV connected to her vein.
She eventually changed her lifestyle to a healthier lifestyle following a health scare and only sought to star in “purpose-driven roles.”

In an interview with men’s health, Williams revealed the series of events that led to her learning that she had Crohn’s Disease.
He explained that everything started after he had invested a lot of time in the gym to develop his muscles. The actor claims that instead of taking things step by step, he decided to take a radical approach and push himself while adhering to another demanding regimen.
As a result of his rigorous process, he suffered from severe stomach discomfort and was unable to keep any food down, regardless of its form.
“I was really pushing my body to the limit,” Williams recalled, adding that at the time, his weight had reached 130 pounds, per Us Weekly.
In December 2017, his body “just crashed” and “shut down,” forcing the actor to see a gastroenterologist in New York City.

Williams’ visit to the hospital revealed that he had an inflammatory bowel disease known as Crohn’s disease. This happened after several tests confirmed that he had inflammation of the intestine which was blocked with scar tissue.
Crohn’s disease currently has no medical cure and can lead to complications and, ultimately, death if symptoms are not managed.
In Williams’ case, he suffered the first complication following an emergency operation in which six inches of his lower intestine were removed. His body went into septic shock as his intestines failed to heal, leading to more surgeries.
Williams found himself thinking about his life and wondering if he would take his last breath in that horrible moment.
He remembers, follows Us Weekly, “The last thought I had was, ‘This could be. If this is the case, I am not happy. I work a lot. I do a lot of things. I don’t enjoy all of this. This cannot be.”

Fortunately, he got better, but not without going through an uncomfortable recovery process.
For months, the “Everybody Hates Chris” star could only feed using an intravenous feeding system that takes nutrients into his body through his veins.
As a side effect, his weight dropped to 105 pounds, with all his previous gains gone.
The experience prompted Williams to “learn how to stop making dramatic changes happen so quickly” and to improve “her relationship with her body.”
He further stated, per Us Weekly, “The important thing for me, and those like me, to remember is that longevity is a big part of the game. If you can’t [stay strong] and healthy, there is no point.”

In addition to changing her lifestyle to a healthier one, exclusive of red meat and coffee, the singer is also looking for more “purpose-driven” roles to make the most of her second chance at life.
One of his roles was his character Gregory Eddie in the award-winning series “Abbott Elementary.”
In an interview, Williams described the character as someone who “wanted to be in this position of power because he felt like that was what he needed to be successful but then found out that it wasn’t his life.”
He then shared that he and Eddie shared the same “journey” to explain why he could relate to the character.
Unsurprisingly, Williams’ performance has garnered critical acclaim with a recent Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actress in a TV series.
