Prior to the announcement, other ABC reporters such as Phil Lipof and Gio Benitez took turns anchoring the show due to vacancies. Although Robach and Holmes previously worked together in the post, they said goodbye to “GMA3” in December 2022.

The network dropped them in the wake of their cheating scandal. At the time, another employee received an email from Kim Godwin, president of ABC, calling the two of them “distractions.”

ABC also confirmed their departure in a public statement. It reads, per Page Six, “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes about different options, we all agreed that it was best for everyone that they move on from ABC News.” However, they thanked the former anchor for their time at the network.
