Abhishek Banerjee is an Indian politician and social worker. He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 from the Diamond Harbor constituency. He is the nephew of Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Abhishek Banerjee was born in a Brahmin family on November 8, 1987 (age: 35 years: in 2022) in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He received his primary education from Nava Nalanda High School, Kolkata and MP Birla Foundation Higher School, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. For his higher education, he enrolled at the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, New Delhi and received his BBA and MBA in Human Resources and Marketing.

Career
In 2011, he became the National President of the All India Trinamool Youth Congress. Abhishek Banerjee contested the 2014 General Election from Diamond Harbor constituency on All India Trinamool Congress ticket and defeated Dr. Abul Hasnat from CPI. In the same year, Abhishek was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee on Commerce, the Consultative Committee, and the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. In 2015, he became a member of the Railway Convention Committee (RCC).

Controversy
- In 2015, he sparked controversy in a public gathering. Abhishek said that the government led by his aunt Mamata Banerjee killed Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji, the leader of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). He said, “During the four years of (Mamata Banerjee’s) rule, only one person died (in Jangalmahal). By killing him, Mamata Banerjee’s government has proved that people will accept the last word.”
- In the same year, he publicly threatened, “Those who dare to glare at us, we can gouge out their eyes and throw them on the road. Show us your hand and we can cut it off.”
- In 2019, his wife was caught by customs authorities with 2 kg of gold at Kolkata Airport. Abhishek described the report as baseless and politically motivated.
- On August 30, 2022, he was summoned by the ED in connection with its investigation into the ‘coal theft scam.’
- On 19 May 2023, he received a summons issued by the CBI in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal after the Calcutta High Court, on 18 May 2023, dismissed a petition filed by Mr. Banerjee in which he asked the court to recall an earlier order of the same court which according to him investigating agencies like CBI and ED can interrogate him in the school work scam; a penalty of Rs. 25 lakh was also imposed on him by the court.
