Talk show host James Corden is being hyped by a famous New York-based restaurateur, Keith McNally.
McNally, who has been hailed as “The Restaurateur Who Invented Downtown,” recently expressed his displeasure with Corden and banned him from his restaurant.
Restaurant founder OG, which has been on the scene since the 80s, has several eateries to its name, including Cafe Luxembourg, Minetta Tavern, Pravda and Balthazar.
Keith McNally Calls Out James Corden for Bad Behavior
McNally took to Instagram to share a blurry photo of “The Late Late Show with James Corden” host along with some warm words. “James Corden is a very talented comedian but a little Cretin. And the rudest customer to my waiter Balthazar since the restaurant opened 25 years ago,” the Londoner began.

McNally shared that she’s not usually one to call customers but she had to host the show because of the way Corden treats his staff. To make matters worse, the restaurateur claimed that the English comedian had exhibited lewd behavior at his former restaurant, Cafe Luxembourg, several years ago.
The restaurant owner went on to cite two instances where the “Cats” star crossed the line and was mean to his staff. Recalling his manager’s first report on Corden, McNally wrote, “In June, James Corden was here at table 61. (Although this is bad, it happens very occasionally in all restaurants.) After eating his main course, Corden showed the hair to Balthazar the manager of G. who is very apologetic.”
He continued, “Corden really hated G and said, “Give us a round of this second drink. And also take care of all our drinks so far. This way, I write any nasty reviews on yelp or anything like that.’”
The second incident occurred earlier this month on October 9, when Corden visited Balthazar with his wife for lunch and asked for a table outside. His wife Julia Carey reportedly ordered an egg yolk omelet with gruyere cheese and salad.
McNally writes, “A few minutes after they received the food, James called their server, MK, and told her that there was some egg white mixed in with the yolk. MK informed the floor manager, G. Dapur remade the dish but unfortunately sent it with home fries instead of salad.”
It was at that mistake that the 44-year-old “Gavin & Stacey” star lost and screamed like a madman at the waiter, saying, “You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go to the kitchen and cook myself an omelette !” McNally shared that the waiter reached out to the manager, who came out to smooth things over, even offering them a promo Champagne glass.

The restaurant’s owner shared that while Corden was nice to the manager, he was mean to the server, who was “very shaky, but professional, continuing to finish his shift.”
Fans Slam Late Show Hosts
In the comments section, fans rallied around McNally as they expressed their frustration with the comedian. One fan wrote, “She will never do karaoke in this town again!!!”
One comment read, “My number 1 rule is never trust anyone who is rude to servers or those who help you in any way😡,” while this user stated, “Put it all down. It’s unbelievable how people treat servers. And the threat of a review which is bad, they should be threatened with this kind of position.”
On Twitter, this user stated, “He’s known as a horrible human being, especially to restaurant and hospitality workers,” while this fan echoed that sentiment, writing, “Not the first time I’ve heard this (not this specific phrase but you know what what I meant).
Corden has yet to publicly respond to the allegations. In May, the Hillingdon native announced that he would be leaving “The Late Late Show” in 2023 after extending his contract for just one more year.
Instagram|keithmcnallynyc As The Blast reported, he shared that the decision was difficult, saying, “It’s been a very difficult decision to leave because I’m so proud of the show. I am excited to continue [for a year]. I always thought I would do it for five years and then leave.”
By the time Corden hangs up his boots in 2023, he will have served eight and a half years as host.
