The Doogie Howser, MD. alum shared recently that she was 27 before she hit puberty. He revealed that he has pituitary dwarfism, a condition usually accompanied by short stature.
On the red carpet for King of Tulsa, Casella, 50 says, “I had a dysfunctional pituitary gland from birth and basically had to start my puberty by pumping me full of testosterone and growth hormone to make me grow because it wasn’t happening. I’m 25 years old, and I haven’t even shaved.”
He admits at one point that he’s kind of cool because it keeps him in roles he has no business playing at his age. But eventually, it gets old and he realizes that he’s missing the adult stuff.

The actor went on to delve into his experience and called it a “horror show”. Plus, it’s relatable. “I can’t talk about it. Nobody gets it,” Casella claims what she can most relate to is the trans community.
“It’s like the trans community today talking about body dysmorphia and feeling like, ‘I’m in the wrong body,’ is really my experience. exactly. I was a man trapped in a little boy’s body for most of my 20s until they finally pumped me full of testosterone.”
For trans people, it’s more about gender than age but okay… there’s definitely a point she’s trying to make. The actor claims that sometimes he finds it very intimidating to work with bigger actors.
He specifically talked about meeting Sylvester Stallone; “almost s–t in your pants time,” she refers to him as.

The actor admits that Stallone is his idol so it’s scary when Rocky hovers over him.
“I had a poster of him on my wall when I was 10, and now I’m acting with him? It’s real,” he told us. “I have acted with many big stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp. Sometimes it’s up or down, your experience with them, but nobody like Sly, who was a superhero to my 10-year-old self. This is like my childhood dream.”
Casella is now fortunate to work with Stallone King of Tulsa.
“He made me feel comfortable because basically, I thought he was a blue-collar guy,” he said. “He has a blue-collar work ethic, and he respects hard work,” he said of the 76-year-old.
Oh, and his height no longer played a factor in his fear!
