Adam Carolla’s wife is legally seeking joint custody of the former couple’s children, following the comedian’s filing for divorce.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Lynette Carolla responded to the divorce filing by asking a judge to order “joint” custody of the former 16-year-old twins. In the filing, Lynette also asked Adam to pay monthly spousal support. Additionally, she wants the court to end her ability to provide spousal support to the comedian.
It’s interesting, since Adam filed for divorce agreeing to share joint custody of the kids — but, apparently, he doesn’t want to pay child support. In fact, Adam actually filed in all the boxes, after he filed ‘pro per’ or without a lawyer.

As we reported, Adam filed for divorce in May 2021, and his ex-wife says they have been separated since April 2019.
Lynette did not say whether she is asking for child support for her children, but since she is asking for a 50/50 split of custody, child support will be automatic based on both of their monthly incomes. Lynette also mentioned in her answer that she “will list and list any and all separate assets and debts” and all “community and/or quasi-community assets and debts” when it comes time to work out a possible divorce settlement. Not to mention, Lynette asked Adam to pay all the money for his legal bills related to this case.

The 58-year-old star announced the devastating family news on his podcast ‘The Adam Carolla Show,’ saying it was “not something he wanted to do.”

“We’re going to start the show with sad personal news. Lynette and I are getting divorced,” he said. Adding, “This is not something I want to get or do, I’m a divorcee, Lynette is a divorcee…No one is signing up for a divorce.”
He confirmed the couple “have been separated for a few months” and “It’s been hard. The kids come first, and they’re doing well. They’re fine.” In fact, he joked about the situation, “Some say it’s too good, I want some destruction. I didn’t get much destruction.” Carolla and Lynette married in September 2002, after six months of dating.

Adam continued, “It’s a tough time. We’ve been together for 25 years, we’re very different people, we have different sets of philosophies, that’s for sure. It’s not an event, it’s not someone cheating, it’s not chronic gambling or COVID, it’s really just two different people and just have completely different processes and approaches to life and can’t meet in the middle somewhere. It’s hard, it’s a weird thing. Everyone gets divorced—or a lot of people get divorced—but it’s never is in my cards. I don’t think I have it as an option. My thing is like, whatever doesn’t work, we’ll make it work. But ultimately, if you can’t make it work then it’s probably for good, so I’m in a pretty good place good.”
The divorce case is ongoing.
