Adams heckled during visit to Colombia town key to migrants trying to enter North America: ‘Shame on you!’

COLOMBIA PORT CITY – Mayor Eric Adams was jeered Saturday as he passed through the Colombian port city used by tens of thousands of migrants each year to reach the Darién Gorge, a treacherous jungle route used by smugglers to take them from South to North America.

“Shame on you Eric Adams!” a man yelled in English at Hizzoner as he asked questions about traveling through Necoclí, according to a video from local media.

“It will increase the amount of violence against immigrants across the United States!” the man shouted, apparently in response to Adams’ recent comments telling asylum seekers not to come to the Big Apple.

A number of other people gathered to protest the Big Apple mayor in the port city with another man holding a sign that read “Go back to New Jersey you creep hating immigrants.”

Speaking to local media, Adams said he was given a “real analysis” of the Darién Gorge by Colombian officials and law enforcement on Saturday as part of his fact-finding mission in the country, which included a helicopter flyover of the dangerous area.

“It is important for us in my delegation to come here and be involved on the ground,” said Adams in Necoclí.

“This is a real learning experience of how Colombia is really showing a direction that we can all benefit from by analyzing what they are doing and how we can expand what they are doing to show the humanity they deserve.”

The mayor also renewed his call for a coordinated response from all countries affected by the migrant crisis.

Before going to Necoclí, located on the eastern shore of Urabá Bay, Adams was taken to an undisclosed part of the Darién Gorge, on the other side of the gulf that connects Colombia to Panama.

Journalists following the mayor were unable to travel due to security concerns.

Colombian police barred Adams from entering the loophole, only allowing him to see the entrance, as well as speak to any migrants, the mayor told reporters late Saturday.

The national team did give the mayor a view from the air to the jungle to the border of Panama.

“It gives us a good visual,” Adams said.

The mayor described the sad scene of hundreds of migrants on Necoclí beach waiting for boats to take them across the bay sleeping in tents.

“No place has real cleanliness,” he said, adding, “It’s just an uncared for environment.”

Colombia was Hizzoner’s final segment of his four-day trip through Central and South America on Saturday — part of a trip touted as an opportunity to speak directly to immigrants and give them “the real story of what’s happening in New York City.”

The mayor is expected to brief the press on Saturday about his trip.

Hizzoner was on the final leg of his four-day swing through Central and South America on Saturday — part of a trip touted as an opportunity to speak directly to immigrants and give them “the real story of what’s happening in New York City. “

“We’re going to tell them that coming to New York doesn’t mean you want to stay in a five-star hotel,” Adams said before the trip. “It doesn’t mean that when you come here, you will automatically be allowed to work.”

But the majority of the mayor’s visit was spent making connections with local leaders and politicians while calling for a global response to the migrant crisis.

When Adams met with more than three dozen migrants at a shelter outside Quito, Ecuador, on Friday The Post revealed he failed to make his case to the families who had fled Venezuela.

The mayor has repeatedly said immigrants have been misinformed about the Big Apple’s advantages, causing thousands to flock to the city.

The Post spoke with more than a dozen immigrants and shelter workers during the trip, but all said they had heard nothing about life in New York City before deciding to make the trip.
