Adele One Step Closer To EGOT Status With First Emmy Win

Adele is on her way to a new record!

The singer, who consistently delights fans at home and abroad with her vocal prowess, left the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recording) for her CBS special, “One Night Only,” on Sunday night. That means the “Easy On Me” hitmaker is getting closer to EGOT status.

In other words, given that she now has an Emmy, multiple Grammys, and an Oscar, all Adele needs is a Tony, and she’ll have a complete collection, joining the elite group of artists who have managed to capture all four.

‘Skyfall’ Singer Cancels Vegas Residency Due To No Connections

The Blast recently provided an update on Adele’s canceled Las Vegas residency. The British singer spoke about why she had to postpone the show despite it being the “worst moment” of her career.

The mother of one claimed that the show “lacked intimacy,” and that she felt “disconnected” from her group. That feeling – or lack thereof – prompted Adele and her team to do a “complete overhaul” of the production, preparing them to take it to the stage on November 18.

During the interview, the “Set Fire To The Rain” singer said her revised show will tell the story of her career and give concertgoers “nostalgia.” In his words:

“I want to tell the story of the beginning of my career to now. I won’t give too much away about it, but the show is growing. It’s all about the music, and it’s really nostalgic. It’s going to be so beautiful.”

In case you missed it, Adele canceled her residency just one day before it was set to begin in January. The surprise cancellation hurt fans, especially those who had arrived in Las Vegas — from other locations — and made hotel stays for their stay.

The “Hello” hitmaker broke down in a tearful video, telling fans, “My show isn’t ready yet. We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to get it together in time, and for it to be good enough for you. But we’re devastated at all by shipping delays and COVID.”

The 34-year-old added that the decision made “the first few months really difficult. However, the pain made him feel more confident because he did “a very brave thing.” As such, he has prided himself on “standing up to the needs of art me.”
