Adele Says This ONE Iconic Role Could Bring Her To Broadway

Although Adele loves her career as a singer, she’s not really a fan of Broadway. However, there was one particular role that could change his mind about giving the stage a chance. The 34-year-old music icon spoke about this in a recent interview.

Adele revealed that she’s not a “huge” fan but would give it a chance if she got a role in one of her best musicals. The 15-time Grammy Award winner and Emmy winner is also just one Tony Award away from completing his EGOT haul.

While his passion for Broadway is a hindrance, his busy schedule can also be a problem. Adele is set to premiere her show “Weekends With Adele” on November 18. The star scrapped the project in January after deciding it wasn’t up to her standards. He also felt “terrible” about the decision and apologized for it.

As The world of Broadway reports, the “Hello” star answered a few questions at a fan event as she revealed her thoughts on acting on the big stage. In response to whether she would give it a chance, Adele said, “I can’t lie man, I’m not a big Broadway fan.”

He later stated that he had seen several Broadway musicals. “I’m talking about musicals though because I’ve seen some plays.” However, he wasn’t sure if he had seen enough to judge Broadway. He said, “I guess I haven’t seen enough.”

Although he’s not a big fan, he revealed which Broadway show he wouldn’t mind starring in. She had previously seen the 1962 film “Gipsy” in London and wanted to play the role of Rose in a production of the show.

The “Easy On’ Me” singer expressed how much she loved the show. He also recalled one of his favorite songs and wanted to perform. “I really like the role of the mother in it,” he said. Narrating part of the show, he added, “He has a song where he’s like, ‘I want to do all this,’ and he’s jealous of his own daughter, and he’s really stuck up about it.”

He also stated the parts he was confident about the show. “At one point, she was just a bitch in it – that I could do.” The musical drama revolves around burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee’s memoir from 1957. It focuses on her mother, Rose, and her role as a showbiz mother and momager.

Adele, who also already has 15 Grammy awards, won an Emmy Award in September. His “One Night Only” on CBS earned the award for Outstanding Variety Special. He also won an Academy Award for “Skyfall” as the James Bond theme song. Winning a Tony Award for an acting role would earn him the title of EGOT.

He Fears The Workload That Comes With Broadway

Another obstacle to a potential Broadway career is his busy schedule and the heavy workload required by the stage. While answering questions, Adele also revealed that Bette Midler, who starred as Rose in “Gypsy,” told her that the workload was too much.

Midler also discouraged her from pursuing her desire to play the role, as she couldn’t possibly handle the schedule. The star readily agreed as he did not have the stamina to combine a demanding schedule with his career. “I am very lazy. I’m notoriously lazy,” Adele said. “I won’t be able to do night shows and all that. I don’t have the stamina for that.”

However, he did not rule out the possibility and stated that he could still perform if the opportunity arose. “Never say never. If I moved to New York, I’d be bored, I’d be on that stage in the heat of the moment.”

After initially postponing the Las Vegas-based show, the “Turning Tables” singer is set to premiere “Weekends With Adele.” The Colosseum show at Caesars Palace will run from November 18 to March 2023 as his first residency show.

follow Ella, the upcoming project will tell the “starting story” of the singer’s career. After rescheduling the show, Adele took to Twitter to express how “terrible” she felt for calling it off early.

“I’m really heartbroken to have to cancel,” he said. He later expressed how excited he was to finally be able to reschedule it. Adele continued, “After what felt like forever figuring out the logistics for the show I really wanted to do, and knowing it could happen, I’m more excited than ever.”
