A Wisconsin police officer received an adorable surprise when a loose dog named Lola jumped into their vehicle with a note attached to her collar asking for help.
Platteville Police say they were called to the area of Mound View Park & Campground on a report of a loose dog, with an officer coming across the friendly animal.
“This sweet girl came up to the officer and jumped into the squad,” the police department said in a Facebook post about the encounter.
On the dog’s pink collar was a handwritten note that read: “Please help, take me to a shelter. My name is Lola.”
Lola was temporarily taken in by officers while they investigated her background, as it is illegal to abandon animals in Platteville.
The police department said it is asking for the public’s help in helping identify the original “owner” of the dog.

“We want to talk to them,” said the police.
The heartbreaking post attracted many local animal lovers to offer to adopt Lola while also lashing out at the owner who abandoned her.
“Terrible terrible people. If you can’t handle having a pet then don’t get one.” writes Colton O’ Brien, of Howard, Wisconsin. “This dog doesn’t deserve to be treated like this.”

Lola’s case is reminiscent of Roadie, an 18-month-old German shepherd mix found tied to a tree in Indiana with a heartbreaking note from her owner, who said she had lost her job and nearly lost her home due to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
“My name is Roadie. I am a rescued puppy from a litter of 10,” the note said, according to WTHR. “I was a spoiled girl, my dad gave me my own couch to lie on and my own memory foam bed.
“My father lost his job and soon his home due to COVID,” he added.
