Agnimitra Paul was born as Agnimitra Ray on Saturday, November 25, 1972 (age 49 years; as of 2021) in Asansol, Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal. She passed her Secondary Examination from the Indian Board of Secondary Education at Loreto Convent School, Asansol, in 1989.

In 1991, she passed the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education at Asansol Girls’ College. After this, he went to Banwarilal Bhalotia College to pursue a bachelor of Science (Botany) degree and passed out in 1994. He also prepared for JEE but ended up remaining on the waiting list for two years. His parents donated heavily to ensure his admission to a medical college in Bangalore. He went to Bangalore to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. However, she abandoned this dream because her boyfriend Partho did not like her, and she returned home after a week. After marriage, she went to Jadavpur University to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration. At the time, she was also enrolled in a fashion design course at BILAMS and passed out in 1997.

In an interview, she talked about how they got along and said,
I first met Partho in 1992 when he visited my father for some official work. Our first impression? My father liked him immediately, my mother was a bit wary, and I thought he was a very genuine person. I had just completed Class 12 then, with dreams of clearing JEE and becoming a doctor. But they say when love comes calling, everything else pales in comparison.
They used to exchange romantic cards when they first started dating, and soon after, they got married. They have two sons named Vighnesh Paul and Siddhesh Paul.

Fashion designer
Agnimitra’s husband supported her dream of becoming a fashion designer, and she started working as a fashion designer in various fashion houses. In 1996, he worked closely with famous designers such as Ritu Beri and continued as an assistant for five years with a monthly salary of about Rs. 2,500. This income served as his initial funding for his own store, and later, he started his own fashion retail label called Inga. She designed the costumes for the Bollywood film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, in 2001.

From 2006 to 2008, He designed costumes for several big cinema projects in Tollywood. These projects include films like Hungama, a film directed by Swapan Saha, and Bidhatar Lekha, directed by Raja Mukherjee. According to Agnimitra, she was the first working woman in her family with the support of her husband. He talked about this in an interview and said,
Who would have thought that a few hours every morning at BILAMS would make me embrace fashion design with such commitment! And this time, Partho didn’t stop me. I am the first woman in my family to start working and I am very grateful to my husband and in-laws for their support and encouragement.

Politicians
In March 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and became the president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, West Bengal. In an interview, he spoke about Narendra Modi, whom he considers his inspiration in politics, and said,
Because of Narendra Modi I joined the party. I admire him; I am a big fan and would be happy to work under his leadership. I have joined BJP for him, no one else and nothing more. I like his speeches, policies and the kind of work he has done for the country. Because of its international policy, India is in a very strong position.’

As president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, she organized a training workshop for women called Uma that focused on teaching self-defense to women in 23 districts of West Bengal in September 2020. In 2021, she won the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from Asansol Dakshin Vidhan Sabha , West Bengal. He won the election by 1800 votes against Congrees candidate Sayani Ghosh.
Criminal cases
As per IPC Section – 506, he has 4 charges related to Punishment for criminal intimidation. According to IPC Section 324, he has one charge of injuring a person with a dangerous weapon. He also had a charge of causing grievous hurt under Section 325. This was followed by another charge under IPC Section 505 for committing public treason and a charge under section 379 for theft. This was followed by fifteen more charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Controversy
In September 2019, she registered a police complaint stating that she was molested and physically abused by people at Jadavpur University in Kolkata, West Bengal. He said, that his clothes were torn, and his modesty was attacked by the crowd at the university. While filing the complaint, he said,
As we were about to enter the program venue, some of the rowdy crowd physically blocked our way. They started chanting slogans. Gradually, the crowd claiming to be university students became violent and started physical abuse, assaults, abusive language and moral violence.’
