The first episode of “Ahsoka,” which aired Tuesday night, paid tribute to the late actor Ray Stevenson, who died suddenly on May 21 in Ischia, Italy.
The Disney+ live-action series honored the actor with a banner at the end of the episode that simply read “For our friend Ray.”

The Northern Ireland-born actor had roles in “Thor,” “Rome,” “Kill the Irishman” and the 2022 Oscar-winning “RRR” before he landed a role in “Ahsoka,” playing the villain. Baylan Skoll. Stevenson went on to say that there was “scale” to “Ahsoka,” adding, “I remember walking on set like, ‘Who designed this?'” Stevenson praised the costumes, construction and set design, saying that the cast and crew all bring their “A Game” to the series.
Ray also teased that fans can expect “a lot of cliffhangers, surprises, journeys and unexpected events,” adding that Dave “just keeps going.” The actor admitted that it was a bit “exhausting” filming the series but “joy” all the same.

He also praised the stunt coordinators who worked on the series. “It’s a character-driven fight,” he explained, adding that “the stakes are high.” He said that some of the upcoming action scenes will “literally” have fans on the edge of their seats.
When asked what he didn’t expect for the “Star Wars” show, Ray revealed that Dave Filoni and the wardrobe department actually took his feedback on the costumes. He called the attention to detail “stunning” before he praised Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and their ability to bring out the best in their actors. He called their “great humility” truly “empowering and awe-inspiring and humbling.”
Ray Stevenson will forever be an unforgettable part of Star Wars and he will always be loved by fans from all over the world. It hurts to know he’s not here to feel the love and praise he’s received for his latest role.

Ray went on to praise the franchise’s love from fans, saying, “There’s a genuine love there and you feel it now reverberates as a tsunami of love from the fans… that’s also from the cast and crew. We just want to give it to the audience that deserves it and give them everything and they make it easy for them to just give their best to work with.”
The first two episodes of “Ahsoka” are now available to stream on Disney+. New episodes are released every Wednesday.
