Aircraft that crept too close to Biden’s Delaware home intercepted by NORAD

A North American Aerospace Defense Command fighter jet and helicopter scrambled to intercept a civilian plane that had flown into restricted airspace over President Biden’s residence in Delaware, where he is staying this weekend.

The fighter jet and MH-65 swooped in around 2:25 p.m. Saturday and escorted the ship ashore, NORAD officials told the Delaware News Journal.

NORAD jets fire flares to bring down civilian craft pilots, which, while harmless, may be visible to concerned people on the ground, the defense organization said.

The Secret Service said the response was merely a “precautionary measure.”

“The asset scrambled to intercept and the civilian aircraft landed safely at a nearby airport,” the agency told The Post in a statement.

“There was no impact on the movement of cover holders as a result of this incident and agents from the US Secret Service are investigating in coordination with the FAA,” the Secret Service said.

Biden retreated from the White House back to his home in Greenville on Friday.

After the incident, the president was seen attending evening mass at St. Joseph at Brandywine Catholic Church.
