AJ McLean and his wife Rochelle McLean are celebrating their daughter, Elliot’s first birthday after changing her name from Ava.

The cute little one was coaxed by her proud mother in an IG post. “MY GIRL is 10 years old today! ???” Rochelle opened her post. “I will hold him in love, hugs and kisses today! So proud of the little woman she’s grown into♥️ Forever grateful that the creator chose me to be her mother ?? I love you baby girl ? Happy Birthday @elliott_jaymes1127,” she wrote, tagging her daughter.
She shared a photo of Elliot smiling and throwing up a peace sign. The hairstylist and her boy band member’s husband recently shared that their daughter is interested in changing her name from Ava to Elliot. Although they were “shocked,” they accepted the change.

Members of the Backstreet Boys share their reactions about Today’s Show in September. “When my daughter asked to change her name to Elliott, at first, I didn’t know if it was a transgender thing, which it isn’t, but it was a personal choice.”
However, as a devoted father, he says, he will “always be Ava to her”. “But at the same time, whatever the reason, it’s his, and I’ll support him a million percent. My wife will [too].”
Rochelle also spoke about the change as well. “For those asking … it’s nobody’s business but Elliott’s name change is not a gender thing,” he insisted. Rochelle went on to say, “She wanted something unique that no one else had (There are so many Avas).”
This cool little girl is already trying to carve out her own uniqueness and her parents refuse to hold her back! “I don’t really see the harm in respecting his desire to be unique.”

The singer has yet to post his own birthday message on his social media to his daughter but they live together he might tell her in front of him, you know how dad is. Furthermore, the singer has not posted on social media for several months.
He clearly left this to his wife! Rochelle does her job well and has the support of her followers’ families.

This small change doesn’t seem to be a big deal for Rochelle and AJ they have overcome bigger obstacles like the musician’s battle with alcohol. In September amid the girl’s back-to-school month and other life milestones like a name change, McLean celebrated a year of sobriety, something big for her.
“My wife could smell it on my breath, and my youngest of my two daughters wouldn’t sit with me,” he recalled during an interview on Good Morning America. “Too much to live for today. My beautiful children, my amazing wife, my career, my brothers. I have never felt more grounded.”
