Akash Singh was born on Sunday, September 7, 1997 (age 24 years; in 2021) in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. His zodiac sign is Virgo. Career
Akash Singh was fond of dancing since childhood. While practicing dance during his school days, he developed a deep interest in a special dance form, known as Acro dance, which combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. Being in the village, the dancer did not get the necessary facilities to practice the dance form, therefore, he started practicing on the tree of his village. Talking about his early days, he said,
I started my aerial stunts in my village. You need height for aerial stunts and it can’t be done everywhere. So, in my village, I used to hang a piece of cloth on a tree and practice.”
In 2018, Akash Singh moved from Bihar to Mumbai to build a career in aerial dance. He went there with only two thousand five hundred rupees. To continue her dance training, she started practicing on a tree near the beach in Mumbai. Later, she started participating as a back-up dancer in dance shows and award ceremonies. In 2022. Akash auditioned for Colors TV’s Hindi language reality television show ‘Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan,’ judged by Mithun Chakraborty, Parineeti Chopra and Karan Johar, and was selected based on his talent. During his introduction round, he narrated his struggle in front of the judges, listening to actress Parineeti Chopra who became very emotional and he promised her to help in every possible way. Using a voting panel, the live studio audience determines whether contestants advance to the next round throughout each show. She was nervous at first to perform in front of such famous names, but the judges helped her to calm down, and she gave them her best performance. He tells it as he talks about it,
The experience at Hunarbaaz was great. When I came to the show, I was very scared, didn’t know anyone, but now everyone in the show has become like a family, all the judges and contestants. I will miss all of this.”
Akash Singh refined his dancing skills with each passing episode under the guidance of several professional dancers, and gained immense popularity among the audience. The grand finale of Hunarbaaz was held on 17 April 2022, where Akash Singh was declared the winner of the show. He bagged the winner’s trophy and a cash price of ₹15 lakh. Yo Highness, a dance troupe from Mumbai’s Nala Sopara, finished second and received a cash prize of 5 lakh.
On winning his first talent show, Akash said,
I never thought that I would win the show or be one of the finalists. I am very happy to win, because my dream of coming to Mumbai has come true. I am happy and so is my family. I can’t find words to express the emotions I’m experiencing, and it all feels so real! I had started my journey on the show with the dream of making it bigger and today after winning the show, I feel I have fulfilled every part of it. The judge was very supportive. They always encourage me. It was a big thing for me to perform in front of them. Parineeti ji who made me her elder brother and gave me so much love, gifted me jackets, shoes and even tied a rakhi. I will really miss them very much.”
Hunarbaaz specifically expressed his gratitude for the judges during the show, he said,
I would like to thank Karan sir, Mithun sir and Parineeti ma’am for guiding me throughout the show, and to COLORS for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. Finally, I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me on this life-changing journey.”
Facts/Trivia
- After winning cash from ‘Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan’, Akash Singh said that he will use the money to buy a house for his family. He narrated,
We don’t have a house. So, I want to build a house for my parents in our village with the prize money I won in the show. I want to do everything to give them a better life.”
- Akash’s ambition is to work in the film industry, especially with Akshay Kumar.
