Akshaye was born on 28 March 1975 (age 48; in 2023) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He went to Lawrence School, Lovedale, Tamil Nadu. After completing his schooling, he enrolled in HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai for his graduation.
He studied acting from the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute, Mumbai. After polishing his acting skills, he started his career in the Bollywood industry with the film “Himalay Putra” (1997) where he was paired with Anjala Zaveri. The film was produced by his father Vinod Khanna.

Akshaye Khanna came into limelight when he won the role of Lt. 2 Dharamvir Singh Bhan in “Border” (1997), a film about the “Battle of Longewala” during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
In his next release “Gandhi, My Father” (2007), he played the role of Harilal Gandhi, the eldest son of Mahatma Gandhi, which is regarded as one of his most commendable performances.
In 2016, she relaunched in Bollywood with the film “Dishoom” where she worked alongside John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, and Jacqueline Fernandez. Next, Akshaye was seen in the biographical film “The Accidental Prime Minister” (2019) which represented the role of Manmohan Singh’s former media adviser, Sanjaya Baru.

- In 1990, Akshaye became the center of controversy when he and Karisma Kapoor were shooting for a magazine and he held Karisma inappropriately.
