Al Roker is returning to Thanksgiving DINNER after a stressful few weeks.
The veteran weatherman was hospitalized after a blood clot was found in his leg earlier this month. Things got worse when the clot broke into pieces that reached his lungs.

The old timer wore a black hat, green themed shirt and dark pants for his win.
“This is my version of the Thanksgiving Day parade. Get ready to leave the hospital. Time to blow this taco stand,” Roker said in an Instagram clip captioned, “So much to be #thankful for on #thanksgiving. Leaving the hospital and home for #thanksgivingdinner.”
The comments section was filled with cheers, with one fan claiming, “This makes me so happy.” The co-host of “3rd Hour Today” occasionally makes fans more happy when he uploads a photo of himself sitting in front of the TV set in his kitchen.
With a big smile on her face and a thumbs up, the beloved celebrity expressed how much she misses being next to her parade co-hosts, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, with the caption that read, “Back home just in time to catch up on some time. a little bit from the #macythanksgivingdayparade.”
Both must have missed him, too, as they congratulated the 68-year-old who hasn’t missed a beat reporting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live in 27 years. Guthrie gushed, “We love you, Al. See you next year.”
The sweetest update came a few hours later in the form of two photos showing Roker’s family flanking him. While the first photo features his beautiful wife, Deborah Roberts, and his three children – Courtney, Leila, and Nicolas, the second is a selfie of the kids.
The “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” voice star sent fans into a frenzy when she told them about her hospitalization in an Instagram post a week ago. Along with flower photos and NBC News Weather mugs, “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” guest star wrote:
“Last week I was admitted to hospital with a blood clot in my leg which caused several clots to enter my lungs. After several medical problems, I was very fortunate to have great medical care and am on the road to recovery.”
He ended his speech by thanking his supporters for “all their well wishes and prayers” and expressed hope that he would see them soon. Several people, including her NBC colleagues, reiterated their love for her in the comments section.

Over the years, Roker has had several health complications, including undergoing a knee replacement in 2001 and again in 2016, back surgery in 2005, and gastric bypass surgery. According to The Blast, the gastric bypass procedure helped her lose 100 pounds after eight months, a feat she celebrated with an Instagram dump in March 2022.
The reporter’s footage includes a photo of him holding the size 54 jeans he wore during the 2002 surgery and wearing them in the second and third slides. The iconic weatherman used his hands to hold up the jeans, emphasizing his now trim figure. He wrote in the caption:
“Hard to believe 20 years ago today, I wore these size 54 Levi’s jeans to my #gastricbypass at 340 pounds, and here I am today.”
Although she admits that keeping the weight off is “still a struggle,” she’s more than determined not to go back to being overweight. He concluded, “I have setbacks and struggles every day, but I never forget how far I’ve come.”
