Al Roker Proclaims: ‘I’m A Very Fortunate Person,’ After Return From Hospital

The legendary Al Roker is back, thankfully, after being out of action for a whole month.

It was revealed in November 2022 that Roker was hospitalized due to a blood clot in his lung, requiring him to undergo surgery. However, he was released on Thanksgiving Day and was recently interviewed on the “Today” show, where he thanked his supporters for their love and tried his hand at regaining his strength.

The “Today” family enthusiastically welcomed the celebrity author with a heartfelt theme song alongside a display of heartfelt messages written on white posters, urging her to “get well soon.” When one of the four presenters, Hoda Kotb, announced her return with other co-hosts praising her, she couldn’t help but feel grateful for the gesture.

In addition, when asked how he felt after being hospitalized, Roker admitted that it was good to be home surrounded by family. However, he thanked everyone who checked on him at the hospital. He further mentioned that the period was “difficult” and gave him “a deep sense of gratitude for this outpouring of prayers and thanks.”

Afterwards, the veteran weatherman called himself a “very lucky person” and elaborated on his recovery as seen in a video uploaded on the official “Today” Twitter page. He said:

“You lose a certain amount of muscle mass every week you’re in the hospital. I was in the hospital for four weeks. So you know it’s just a certain weakness. I do physical therapy every day, occupational therapy. I just need to get my strength back.”

During the discussion, Roker revealed he wanted to get a knee replacement in January but had to reschedule, given his condition. Nevertheless, he admitted, “I feel good, I feel strong, and every day I feel better. I made dinner last night, and yeah, I feel like there’s going to be a little trouble.”

The 68-year-old actor is at it again speak up how fortunate he is to have all the resources that help his health compared to those who have to manage few resources for worse conditions. He sent a shout out to the doctors and nurses who cared for him at New York Presbyterian Hospital while also appreciating his “Today” family once again.

After undergoing gastric bypass surgery, the reporter managed to lose 100 pounds in eight months, and to commemorate it, she took to Instagram to compare her current size to her past.

In the photo shared, he can be seen wearing the size 54 jeans he wore during surgery in 2002, which fit him well at the time. However, its current appearance shows a marked difference as it is huge on its now small frame.

Taking to the caption, Roker expressed disbelief that he actually wore those jeans two decades earlier when he was 340 pounds. He went on to admit that it’s still a daily struggle with some obstacles but promises to never go back or forget how far he’s come.
