Courtney Roker is currently pregnant and expecting her first child with husband, Wesley Laga, and the Today Show weatherman is thrilled to be a grandfather for the first time. However, it seems the news of the baby’s gender came earlier than expected.

On Wednesday, the 68-year-old attended the 31st Anniversary Gala of the Broadcasting Awards and Cable Hall of Fame in New York City. He was joined by Today Show co-host Hoda Kotb.
During an interview on the red carpet, she dropped the gender before correcting herself to say “grandchild” and excitedly shared that Courtney is due in June. He revealed that he didn’t want to know what they were going to face at first, but it looks like they are in for a surprise.

Narrating when his daughter accidentally revealed her gender while talking to him ET, he revealed that it all started with a text message. “He [texted] I took the sonogram, and I said, ‘That baby looks like you,’ and she said, ‘Isn’t she?’ And then you see bubbles,” Roker said, referring to the ellipsis that appears on iMessage when someone types.
“[She goes] ‘I am sorry!’ and I go, ‘You have one [job]!,” the weatherman continued, adding humorously, “I want to be surprised.”
In April, the eldest daughter of the “Quest for Camelot” voice actor, who he shares with his ex-wife Alice Bell, shared a heartwarming photo of her growing baby on Instagram. The expectant mother wore a stunning light blue gown with a cutout at the waist, letting her dark locks fall loosely over her shoulders.
She flashed a big smile in the photo, which she captioned, “Baby (& Mama) are growing ?.” Deborah Roberts, her stepmom, left a sweet comment on her photo saying, “And so beautiful!! ❤️❤️,” while another follower expressed admiration, writing, “Beautiful!! Hope you are healthy ❤️!!”
