On January 6, the 68-year-old returned to win the morning show after not playing for more than two months. During the appearance, he sat with his wife as they revealed that he was “very, very, very sick” and that he was alive and with them was a miracle.
At the red carpet premiere of the documentary “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields,” an ABC News reporter shared what she went through caring for the Today weatherman, who had to endure a long hospital stay due to a blood clot in her leg that eventually affected her lungs.

In an interview with ET, she jokingly revealed that her husband “drives her crazy” now that she’s healthy and back to work. Despite light-hearted banter about her husband of 30 years, she provides candid insight into the challenges she faces.
She revealed that being a caregiver is “overwhelming, exhausting, and scary” and that she never realized the difficulties of being a caregiver until she went through it herself. He hopes he never has to do it again, adding:
“But it’s hard. It’s hard. I’m still somewhat, I think, recovered. I’m still a little tired. I’m still mentally exhausted, but you know what, I’m grateful and just trying to bask in the moment and just be happy that he’s healthy, and we’re all healthy.”
The 62-year-old shared that his faith in God helped guide him and noted that he relied on his spirituality and received support from family, friends and colleagues at work. This support serves as a reminder that she is not alone and for which she is deeply grateful.
Her unwavering care and love played an important role in helping Roker overcome his health problems. According to a report by The Blast, the veteran weatherman stated that he owes his life to his wife’s loving care.
Speaking to Page Six, she expressed her gratitude for the love and support she received during her illness. She credited Roberts for being instrumental in saving her life saying she “wouldn’t have lived without him.”

She insists that he protects her from realizing the severity of her condition and that it helps her to focus fully on her recovery. The reporter said, “I didn’t know at the time. Deborah was great at keeping all of that away from me, so I think I did. OK, but that’s good because I can focus on improving.”
