His journey began in the arms of the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin, where he grew up in the rich heritage of the Menominee and Mohican nations. Alaqua is one of four siblings, sharing her upbringing with Jordan, Katie and Will.
She attended the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, where she was an active student athlete on the girls basketball team from 2014-2015 and the volleyball squad. Cox lives with a prosthetic leg, although she has chosen not to share details about her need for a prosthesis publicly. Despite the challenges, he persevered as an inspiration to many.

Career
Alaqua Cox came into the limelight with her debut acting role as Echo in the Marvel series Hawkeye, a joyous moment in her career that began on December 3, 2020. Her casting received resounding praise from Deaf activist Nyle DiMarco and others, celebrating the importance of her representation.
When news of an Echo television series emerged in June 2021, co-creator David W. Mack expressed his gratitude to Cox, recognizing his role as a representative for both Deaf and Indigenous youth.
Amidst the red carpet glitz of Marvel’s Hawkeye premiere, Cox marveled at the journey he’s been on, sharing his awe at landing his first acting role and the next chance to lead his show. Grateful for the support, Cox emphasized her desire to support the Deaf community, working for greater equality and inclusion.
His dedication did not go unnoticed, as he revealed that both Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld made an effort to learn American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate communication with signs that deeply touched him as a Deaf individual.
