Alec Baldwin Remembers First Time He Saw Tina Turner Perform: ‘Best Concert I Ever Attended’

On Thursday morning, the 65-year-old actor wrote a touching tribute to the late singer which he later shared on his own Instagram page. “Tina Turner died of cancer today. A piece of my young life went with him. She always lit up my soul with her great talent and some of that light is darkened by her passing,” he wrote in the caption before he went on to remember the first time he saw her perform on stage.

“I saw him live on November 27, 1969 at Madison Square Garden when he opened for The Rolling Stones in their first Garden concert. To this day it remains the best concert I have ever attended and been lucky enough to photograph,” he wrote. “He picked cotton and sang in a choir as a child. She put up with abuse from Ike Turner for years before she finally let it go. But watching her on stage that night never imagined anything but a dedicated, singing, dancing queen born into a life as an entertainer which is phenomenal.
