On Friday, the “30 Rock” actor was photographed walking around New York City with the aid of a cane less than two weeks after his recent hip replacement surgery.

In the photo, obtained by Page Six, the actor is wearing a gray shirt, black underwear, dark pants, and dress shoes.

The actor, who is now clean-shaven after finishing filming his role in “Rust,” recently took to Instagram to open up about his “painful” hip surgery.

Alec Baldwin Talks About ‘Painful’ Hip Surgery

In an Instagram video shared on June 4, with the caption “Movie, movie, movie,” the Supercell actor opened up a little more about his hip procedure.

“I had my left hip done in 2018, five years ago, and I had another one done [on May 30],” he has explained. “The pain went away gradually … although I was told by my conversations with orthopedic doctors and their patients, my friends who have been through this, that their knee surgery hurts more. But it hurts.”

“It was very painful. But as we say in my house, ‘It’s the pain that ends the pain.'”

Baldwin admitted that he needed hip replacement surgery “which was done at least two years ago and [instead I] walking and limping. I mean, I’m really not doing myself any favors, because the compensatory damage you do to your back and your neck and your legs and everything, your knees, isn’t that great.”

“So to limp with this condition for two years is difficult, but I don’t have time to do it with work or on schedule,” he explained. “I don’t have four to six weeks to limit myself like that.”

He also explained that his “glucose issues” continued to affect the surgery date. “We will set a date to do the surgery and I will fail my blood sugar test,” he said. “But I got it all together and we did the surgery. And it hurts. It really, really hurts.”

Although he was given painkillers after the surgery, it seems that the actor did not take them, because he did not like the effect. “Man, I haven’t been this tall since 1977,” he joked. “It’s incredible and I can’t accept it, because you can’t function. I don’t think they really kill the pain as much as they shut your brain down [so that] you’re not really in pain.”
