Actor Alec Baldwin is making a big career comeback following the October 2021 “Rust” incident.
During the filming of a Western, the gun he was holding exploded. The bullet hit and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Although he was initially charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter over her death, those charges were dropped pending further investigation.

That wasn’t the only film Baldwin would be involved with. On Friday, April 21, the special prosecutor in the “Rust” case officially dropped criminal charges against the actor. Less than an hour later, Deadline announced that the Emmy award-winning actor will star in a new film called “Hollywood Heist,” which marks Mike Hatton’s directorial debut.
The film has been described as a comedy crime film that will also star “The Masked Singer” judge Nick Cannon, Mickey Rourke, Paul Sloan, Til Schweiger, and Tara Reid. Principal photography in Los Angeles was completed last month; The film will be shot in both Las Vegas and Majorca Spain. The synopsis of the film reads:
“Hollywood Heist follows a Hollywood power agent (Cannon) who tries to land an actor (Baldwin) by telling the story of his client, a movie producer (Hatton), along with a fellow movie star (Sloan), as they race. against time to save their latest production. This happened after the project’s bank account was wiped clean by thieves, which led to an onslaught of negotiations with famous actors, drug lords and deaths.”
The story is said to be inspired by true events, although the film will feature a Hollywood “meta” version. Baldwin, Rourke, and Reid are all reportedly playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The film will also feature a fictionalized version of producer Asko Akopyan, who will be played by Arman Nshanian.
The script was written by Mike Hatton and Paul Sloan, who will produce the film under the Ton of Hats production company. Akopyan will also produce Oscar Gold Productions. Nick Cannon will executive produce through his Ncredible Entertainment banner. Kimberly Hines will also serve as an executive producer for the film.
Alec Baldwin’s Disaster Movie ‘Supercell’ Hits Silent Screens Earlier This Year

Given the drama surrounding the “Rust” allegations, Baldwin’s disaster film “Supercell” was quietly released on the weekend of March 17. It didn’t make a big theatrical release; instead, it was only released in a few small independent cinemas and video on demand.
The film itself is notable for being one of the last roles filmed by the late “Volcano” actress Anne Heche. The “Twister”-esque film tells the story of a teenager named William who runs away from home to follow in the footsteps of his father, a famous storm chaser who lost his life in a storm.
In June 2021, Baldwin spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the effects they were able to do with a limited budget. “I haven’t run across a field trying to catch the sun to shoot in a long time,” he said at the time.
“They don’t have money for a lot of effects, this is not a Spielberg production. They had to find a way to simulate it and do it at a low cost, and they did,” he continued. “We’re going to say ‘action’ and get out of this van and oh my god, they’re blowing this stuff at us like you wouldn’t believe.”
