Actor Alec Baldwin wished all the women out there a Happy Mother’s Day, reminding his followers that “You don’t have to have a baby to be a mom.”
The father of 8 took to Instagram on Sunday morning to share a video praising the world’s incredible women, dedicating this year’s annual celebration to all the women who “keep the world going.”

In a minute-long video posted to Instagram on Sunday morning, Alec Baldwin began, “It’s Mother’s Day and I want to wish some moms a Happy Mother’s Day. My mother died last May. Coming in a year. I miss you, mom. I hope you’re at a place that has really good cheesecake,” he joked.
He wished his sisters Beth and Jane a Happy Mother’s Day, before revealing that the 27-year-old daughter he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger, Ireland Baldwin, is about to become a mother. “And of course, my wife, Hilaria, he added. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there.”
“Being a mother is something I’ve noticed lately and it’s something quite interesting, so Happy Mother’s Day to my mother and all mothers out there,” she concluded.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing women out there!” the “Supercell” actor wrote in the caption. “You don’t have to have a baby to be a mother. You can be the mother of the dog, the garden, the staff of a small business, the children’s classroom at school, or to your stepchildren and grandmothers to their children. Women bring a strong and unique kind of loving to the world. HMD to all the women out there who keep the world going.”
Many fans had different responses to Alec’s message. Some fans were happy to see Alec include all women in his Mother’s Day message. “I will definitely share this with my daughter. She longs for a child, and Mother’s Day is very difficult, almost like being asked why she doesn’t have children. Why is that a question you ask women? Thank you for thinking of him,” commented one fan.
However, not everyone appreciated what he was trying to say with his message. “What degrades the mother’s dignity is actually. Weird that you don’t after two marriages and eight kids,” another user wrote. Other fans offered their condolences for the loss of Alec’s mother, with one fan writing, “So sorry you lost your Mom. There is something very sad about losing one’s Mother!”

In May 2022, Alec Baldwin took to Instagram to pay tribute to Baldwin’s parents, Carol Baldwin, who had died at the age of 92. “Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, William, and Stephen Baldwin and two daughters, Elizabeth and Jane, died today in Syracuse, New York. He’s 92 years old,” the “30 Rock” actor wrote in a post highlighting his life and accomplishments.
“In 1991, she was diagnosed with breast cancer,” he explained. “After she survived, she joined a group of breast cancer support groups across Long Island to launch a joint effort with SUNY Stony Brook. With the support of then-university president Shirley Strum Kenny, the Carol M Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund was opened on campus at Stony Brook. Another chapter was started a few years later in collaboration with SUNY Upstate University. The combined effort has raised millions of dollars for the cause.”
“He spent the last 25 years of his life as a fighter and champion for the cause he devoted his life to. We are all very proud of his achievements,” he concluded. “In addition to her six children, Carol has 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.”

In March 2023, the “Rust” actress shared a message from The Baldwin Fund on Instagram as Women’s History Month approaches.
“Carol M. Baldwin won her battle with breast cancer; she then decided to help other women overcome this vicious disease,” they explained. “In 2001, the Carol M. Baldwin CNY Breast Cancer Research Fund was established.”
“We are determined to find a cure together. We continue Carol’s mission every day and honor the legacy she left us. Share your story with us and help us celebrate this amazing woman,” they concluded.
