Actor Alec Baldwin will watch his film “Rust” shown at the Cannes market.
The Western film’s production was delayed to October 2021 following the death of Halyna Hutchins and the hospitalization of director Joel Souza. However, production resumed late last month when crews moved production from New Mexico to Montana and should end production later this month.

On Sunday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Goodfellas – formerly Wild Bunch International – will sell the project. They took over from the Highland Film Group, which originally launched it on the virtual Marché in 2000.
The Western stars Baldwin as Harland Rust: a notorious outlaw and grandfather who comes out of hiding to prevent his 13-year-old grandson from being hanged for murder. This story is a collaboration between Souza and Baldwin. The two previously worked together in the 2019 action thriller “Crown Vic.”

Unfortunately, it seems everyone has heard of “Rust” for all the wrong reasons after Baldwin’s revolver held cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and director Joel Souza injured on October 21, 2021, at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.
Although Baldwin and shield Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were both charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, charges against Baldwin were dropped without prejudice as the investigation into Hutchins’ death continued. Two counts of involuntary manslaughter against Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were not dropped, although her trial was postponed to August.
Halyna Hutchins’ Husband To Serve As ‘Rust’ Executive Producer

In February 2022, Halyna Hutchins’ husband Matthew Hutchins filed a wrongful death settlement against the actress and other “Rust” producers. The lawsuit was settled last October. As part of the settlement, Matthew was made the film’s executive producer.
In a statement at the time, Matthew Hutchins said, “We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, of our wrongful death lawsuit against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our will be rejected.”

“I’m not interested in getting involved in accusations or accusations of blame (on the publisher or Mr. Baldwin),” Hutchins added. “We all believe that Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
Matthew gave his “blessing and support” to new cinematographer Bianca Cline, who has worked on the critically acclaimed “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On.” According to Rust Movie Productions, Cline will donate his salary to charity.
Halyna’s Parents and Sister File Their Own Lawsuits

Although Matthew Hutchins settled his claim, Halyna’s parents and sister filed their own lawsuit against Alec Baldwin and other “Rust” producers seeking unspecified damages for negligence, among other things.
Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey, her father Anatolii Androsovych, and sister Svetlana Zemko are represented by attorney Gloria Allred, who also represented “Rust” script supervisor Mamie Mitchell in her own lawsuit filed a month after Halyna’s death.

“Mr. Baldwin could have pretended that he wasn’t responsible for pulling the trigger and firing the live bullet that ended Halyna’s life,” Allred said in a statement. “He could have run off to Montana and pretended that he was just an actor in a wild west movie but, in real life, he can’t escape the fact that he has a major role in a tragedy that has real-life consequences.”
Special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis released a statement shortly after they announced they would drop charges against the “30 Rock” actor… for now.

“Over the past several days and in preparation for a preliminary hearing on May 3, 2023, new facts have come to light that demand further investigation and forensic analysis in the case against Alexander ‘Alec’ Rae Baldwin, III,” they began.
“Therefore, we cannot proceed under the current time constraints and based on the facts and evidence submitted by law enforcement as it stands,” they continued. “Therefore we will dismiss the charge of involuntary manslaughter against Mr. Baldwin pending further investigation.”
MEGA
“This decision does not absolve Mr. Baldwin of criminal wrongdoing and charges may be refiled,” they warned. “Our follow-up investigation will remain active and ongoing.”
Currently, Alec Baldwin is not facing any criminal charges as he continues to focus on filming the movie “Rust.”
