“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star opened up about her daughter Ava Sue’s accident just before she celebrated her 4th birthday and was full of praise for her courage and creativity.

During an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” the actress opened up about the heartbreaking incident involving her youngest son on the eve of his 4th birthday. The TV star, who shares three children with his wife, Angela Unkrich, and a 20-year-old daughter Sienna from a previous relationship, emotionally recalled the incident. Speaking to the hosts, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, he stated:

“On Thursday, unfortunately, my daughter was injured and had to undergo emergency surgery. So it was a very stressful weekend. He fell and basically got road rash on his face and arms, so they had to take all the skin off him.”

Consuelos then asked about the little girl’s well-being, to which the “Magnum PI” guest star replied, “It’s going to be a long process.” In a shocking revelation, the 51-year-old shared that his wife had a premonition that something unfortunate was about to happen to their baby girl. He warned everyone to prevent Ava from engaging in any activities that could result in harm.

Despite her warning, she shared with the host that their babysitter had inadvertently ignored cautionary advice. The comedian added, “My babysitter ran into the house to get pads and stuff, and [Ava] go with a small scooter.”

Going through the terrifying event made her birthday even more special, based on the emotional words Ribeiro wrote in tribute to her baby girl. Taking to her Instagram page, she shared a photo from Ava’s birthday, which showed the little one looking adorable in a purple dress with puffy sleeves.

She smiled happily at the camera as she held four matching balloons and a gold crown. In the next slide, the celebrant poses cutely behind a wreath, while the last one sees her surrounded by her siblings. In the caption, he wrote in part:

“Happy Birthday to my sweet Ava Sue. As you know, Ava has had a very difficult week. I’m very proud of the way he handled everything.”

The proud father described her as “brave, strong and creative,” adding, “I love everything about my little girl.”

He also had some sweet words for his wife, expressing his gratitude to her for being great. He continued, “A long night with a little girl in pain and on medication every few hours. My two heroes.”
