Ali Fazal was born on October 15, 1986 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Fazal had the acting bug since his school days because he used to participate in school plays. He was chosen to play the role of Trinculo in Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest. Before entering films, Ali did a lot of commercials. He is also a theater artist. Fazal was given the title, ‘Most Desirable Men’ by The Times Of India in 2014. The 32-year-old actor is best known for his Bollywood debut, ‘Joy’ in the film, 3 Idiots. He has played supporting roles in many Bollywood films. Also, as a philanthropist, he joined ‘Fortis,’ and ‘NDTV’ organized, ‘Cancerthon’ to create awareness and raise funds for children fighting cancer. During the event, he also spoke against smoking.

Career
He attended La Martiniere College in Lucknow and completed his schooling from, The Doon School, Dehra Dun. He was a basketball player during his school days, and he always wanted to represent India at the International level. After he completed his schooling, his parents wanted Ali to pursue Engineering, but he nevertheless convinced his parents and completed his studies in economics from St. Xavier. He made his debut in the English language film, The Other End of the Line (2008). He later appeared in the American television miniseries, Bollywood Hero. After his film Always Kabhi Kabhi failed miserably at the box-office, Ali stated in an interview that it was not the right decision to make the film. Ali further revealed that he lost about 15 kg of weight for the film. His film, Fukrey (2013) was a breakthrough for Ali, as his career took off and he received many offers for lead roles.Ali played a supporting role in the comedy drama, Bobby Jasoos opposite Vidya Balan, the film was a hit. In 2015, Ali made a special appearance in the film, Furious 7, the 7th installment in The Fast and the Furious series.
Later he was seen in the Indo-American film, For Here Or To Go?. The film has been screened at many International Film Festivals. In 2017, she starred in the British-American film, Victoria & Abdul, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2017.
Controversy
In 2015, Ali Fazal sparked controversy by saying that his co-star in Khamoshiyan, Gurmeet Choudhary, was cast by the makers to promote the film because he had a good following and nothing more. He further added that Gurmeet’s character “Lord Ram” in NDTV Imagine’s Ramayana is the only character responsible for his “fan following”.
