Alicia Keys has been happily married for over a decade to Kasseem Daoud David, professionally known as Swizz Beatz, and there seems to be a secret behind their happy union.
Fans are aware that the couple, who share two sons, have been going strong since 2010, and now Keys is revealing how they’ve been able to pull it off despite the usual challenges that come with marriage.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Keys gave tips on how she and her longtime partner made their marriage work despite their busy careers. “Really carving out time for each other,” she said. “We all struggle with it. There are so many balances. There is a lot to do.”

The accomplished pianist continued, “You find yourself running around and doing things for school, for the kids, and doing all the things for your list, for all the dreams you have in your career, and what you need to do next. “
He believes one’s time with one’s partner is “so priceless”, and to carve out time and make it as important as “those everyday things” reflects positively on the relationship.
“You remember why you fell in love,” she explains. “You remember why you just like each other, what attracts each other.
Keys and Beatz initially met when they were 14 and 16, after being introduced by mutual high school friends. At the time, the “Fallin'” singer was not romantically interested in the rapper and it remained that way in the following years.
According to his autobiographical book “More Myself,” the two ended up in the same circles and at several shows and award events. However, Keys still wants nothing to do with the record producer.
He wrote, “He usually stops in fancy cars, rolls around with his Bronx crew and shining diamonds. I want nothing to do with that scene or with Swizz.”
However, things began to change when the New York City native collaborated on a music project a few years later, leading the “Diary” singer to realize that Beatz was deeper.
“The more we talked, the more I noticed how his mind worked,” she confessed. “Beyond the baggy jeans and arm tats, there is depth. He’s so aware of what’s going on around the world.”
The pair eventually struck up a friendly relationship before becoming romantically involved, which led to Beatz proposing in 2010 and their wedding that same year in Corsica.
Meanwhile, this year will mark their 13th wedding anniversary, which fans expect to be celebrated in style like last year’s milestone. As The Blast reported on the couple’s 12th wedding anniversary, Keys went back in time with a series of beautiful black and white photos on Instagram from their wedding.
In the caption, she celebrated their love with touching words, starting with: “This is the day we got married! Look at this cute pie!! The same stars are still in our eyes, And it just keeps getting better!!!!”
The 42-year-old added more friendly notes suggesting the pair love each other “with open arms” and “open hearts” and grow together despite their “different ways and directions.”
After describing themselves as “best friends,” Keys concluded, “There’s nothing more precious than this! I wake up waiting for you every day! Forever.”
