Alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann signs home over to estranged wife: report

Accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann signed over his Long Island home to his estranged wife last month as he remains in prison on suspicion of murdering three women more than a decade ago.

Heuermann, 60, filed paperwork to transfer the deed for his Massapequa Park home to his wife of more than 20 years, Asa Ellerup, on Sept. 22, naming her as the sole owner, according to documents obtained by the US Sun.

The alleged serial killer owed Ellerup, who filed for divorce in July, $0 for the home — where the couple lived with their two adult children after Heuermann bought it from his own parents — and the title transfer was finalized on Oct. 5. the paper shows.

Heuermann bought the home for $170,000 in 1994 and its value has increased to about $530,000 this year, according to the outlet.

The property became a major part of the police investigation into the long-unsolved murder and attracted dozens of reporters, photographers and locals throughout the summer who gathered outside to watch police remove any evidence or clues that could potentially link Heuermann to the gruesome crime.

Ellerup and the couple’s grown children, Christopher and Victoria, were forced to vacate their home following Heuermann’s July 13 arrest so police could execute a search warrant and comb the property for any evidence that might help convict the suspected serial killer.

The three family members ended up sleeping in a rental car for over a week while their house was torn apart because they didn’t know where else to go, Ellerup previously told Matahari.

They were finally allowed to return to their home after 12 days but found it in disarray from the prolonged search.

“It’s a mess there,” he previously told the Sun. “But this is my home. I raised my children in this house, and I need to fix it.

Ellerup filed for divorce about a week after her husband was arrested. He visited Heuermann in prison last week for the first time since his incarceration, his lawyer Robert Macedonio confirmed to the outlet.

It is not known what the couple discussed, but he was there for about an hour.

The Long Island mother plans to attend her estranged husband’s trial for the murders of Megan Waterman, 22; Melissa Barthelemy, 24; and Amber Lynn Costello, 27 – whose bodies were found wrapped in burlap and dumped on Gilgo Beach in 2010.

He wants to make his own judgment based on the evidence presented in the trial, Macedonio told the Daily Mail.
