Allison Holker Follows In Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ Steps As Judge On ‘SYTYCD’

Allison Holker is honoring her late husband, Stephen’ tWitch’ Boss, in the best possible way and has filled his big shoes at the judges’ table on the new season of “So You Think You Can Dance.”

The dancer recently started dancing again and shared clips of her stunts on Instagram after an eight-month hiatus to mourn her husband’s passing.

Allison Holker Returns To ‘SYTYCD’ As Judge

The professional dancers join Maksim Chmerkovskiy from “DWTS,” Nigel Lythgoe, and guest judge Comfort Fedoke to judge the contestants on the epic dance show’s 18th season.

Fox Network is thrilled to announce a new addition to the show, which will see host Cat Deeley return. Holker and Boss previously sparred on the All-Star edition of “SYTYCD,” with the late Boss returning as a judge for the show’s 17th season.

For Chmerkovskiy, this is his first time appearing on “SYTYCD” after years of moving on “DWTS” and also choreographing for the series. Holker also had a history with “DWTS” as a professional dancer for four seasons before she appeared on the second season of “SYTYCD” with her partner, who died by suicide in 2022.

According to a post shared on the show’s Instagram page, the 18th season of “SYTYCD” will premiere on Monday, March 4, on FoxTV and Hulu. Contestants on the show will compete in rigorous dance challenges, including performing in music videos and “meeting feet on stage with Broadway performers.”

ET shared that the top 3 finalists will compete for the $100,000 grand prize and bragging rights of “SYTYCD” champion in the finale. This season promises to showcase new storytelling elements to “capture the authentic ebb and flow experienced by professional dancers.”

There’s also a documentary-style look at the participants’ journeys, including daily struggles, personality differences and new relationships.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Alum Finds Love In Dancing Again

Holker stopped sharing videos of himself dancing after Boss’s tragic death last year, an act he would have loved to have enjoyed with Boss during his lifetime. They first appeared together on “DWTS” in season 16 and then danced in seasons 21, 23, and 25.

Holker and Boss are known for sharing videos of themselves dancing on social media with their children, Maddox, Zaia, and Weslie, from Holker’s previous relationship. Shortly before Boss’s death on December 13, the DJ shared a video of him and Holker digging it and captioned it as “HOLIDAY SUNDAY FUNDAY DANCE.”

However, The Blast confirmed that Holker reappeared on the gram in August with a cute video of himself and his mini-me. The pair danced to a remix of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and later shared another clip of herself and Brittany Russell dancing to Missy Elliot’s “Bomb Intro / Pass That Dutch” on TikTok and Instagram.

Holker accompanied her video with a caption saying how much fun it was to dance again after a long hiatus and added, “I’m overwhelmed with so many emotions. I was scared and excited. But dance has always been there for me… even now and I’m so grateful for that.”

Aside from returning to dancing aged 35, she also revealed her plans to release a children’s book she and Boss started working on in 2021 to honor her memory. The book “Keep Dancing Through: A Boss Family Groove” is Holker’s lifelong dream that began when he had Weslie.

“Then a few years ago, I was like, ‘Let’s do it!’ Let’s show who we are and put it in the form of a story…’ It’s something that I hope people can really see and is the true essence of us as a family,” shared the mother of three.

The book is available for pre-order but will be available in stores on January 16, 2024. Holker also launched a foundation with her children in February called “Move With Kindness” in honor of Boss’s memory and to help individuals with mental health issues access help and necessary resources.
