For the past two years, Kloots has put on a brave face for the public while raising a three-year-old child alone. Although the 40-year-old has managed to avoid becoming romantically involved with anyone during this period, his recent decision to change has come at a price.

The “Fit for Christmas” actor opened up about the price he’s had to pay since he started dating again during a conversation with Cheryl Burke. The couple kicked things off by discussing Kloots’ constant social media updates on Cordero’s progress during and after his last day.

After hearing Kloots detail how helpful the move was, the “Dancing with the Stars” alum asked how her “Diving Deep” guests handled the transition into dating. In response, Kloots said:

“It took me a while to feel good, and I put my toes in the water, and the first couple I went to was with another widower. So, that helps immediately to break the discomfort of ‘I come with a lot of emotional baggage.’ You don’t have to explain yourself.”

The television personality added that her first divorce and Cordero’s death have reduced her patience for small talk, and that she prefers people to “get down and dirty. [and] talk about life experiences.” Kloots later revealed:

“You know the criticism that came from ‘Amanda Kloots dating less than a year after Nick died’? Well, I took a quick bite of it, and I was like, ‘absolutely not.’”

To that end, she began hosting live — and honest — interviews with other widows on Instagram, thus putting “a face to what people call horrible things.”

In addition to his thousands of views on YouTube, Burke brought the conversation to his 700k+ followers in Instagram posts with behind-the-scenes photos of himself and Kloots. The pro dancer wrote in part:

“We dive deeper as Amanda gets real and honest about what she really thinks about haters on social media and why facing your fears is the only way to go….”

One was quick to admit, “This “DivingDeep” conversation was incredible. Enlightening and so inspiring. It’s refreshing to hear people talk so openly [sic] and be honest because that’s what helps a lot of us here.”

After congratulating Burke on the start of her new show, one agreed that “there’s no timetable for grief, and I learned that with my mother’s passing about a year and a half ago. The 2nd round of holidays was worse than the first.”

“No one turns the business around when you start dating after you’ve lost your partner. I’m going to say some very nasty words to those people,” a third viewer chided. Several others complimented Burke on the way she arranged the interview and wished her success in subsequent episodes.

The Blast recently recorded that Burke used an Instagram post to explain how he came up with the idea for “Diving Deep.” Along with clips and photos of herself, including a mirror selfie of herself in a mustard suit, gold heels and subtle makeup, she wrote:

“I am truly overwhelmed by the amount of love and excitement about Diving Deep. It means the world to me!”

The model revealed that the show began during the COVID-19-inspired shutdown when she was looking for a suitable hobby. Her search led her to diamond painting, of which she notes, “the competitive ballroom dancer in me saw that rhinestones were involved, and it was love at first sight.”

Once she discovered the therapeutic value, she began engaging her friends via Instagram directly and named it “All That Glitters.” He also realizes that the process is more about healing than finishing the whole painting, “For once in my life, it’s not about the end goal, it’s about the now, here and now.”

The 38-year-old’s high hopes for the new venture have already started to materialize with his first episode with Kloots.
