Amanda Kloots opens up about being a single mother to her son, Elvis, who she shares with late Broadway performer Nick Cordero.
Kloots has always been candid about her life since her husband’s death, and now she’s telling fans that being a single parent isn’t all roses, especially with her busy career.

It is common knowledge that everyone is getting to know the budding producer on social media during the heartbreaking death of his partner. And he has been an open book ever since where grief and strength are concerned.
Speaking recently on Dear Media’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Kloots shed more light on life after loss and navigating being a working single mom. He confessed:
“Being a single parent is hard. It’s really hard. The day-to-day stuff of being a single parent, it’s just a lot, especially now.”
He explains that his son has started to have an opinion and talks back to him to test him. He also doesn’t want her to leave or go out to dinner, because she wants him to stay home with her. This has made him feel like he has done him wrong, he says:
“So there’s a lot of mother guilt coming now. So it was very difficult.”

When Elvis was only three months old, the family of three, including Cordero, moved to Los Angeles, where Kloots suffered from postpartum depression. She remembered that they had no one and no real friends to help their baby, making her feel even more hopeless. Kloots further shared:
“I suffered from postpartum depression. I don’t want to stay here. I begged and begged to step down and hoped that Nick would understand and also want to step down, that he would be looking for work and had to step down.”
Although the dancer now has a different take on LA, her challenging parenting experience remains the same. Without pretending he could handle the job himself, he hired help and had friends and family come over to help little Elvis whenever he had to shoot a movie.
Also, in 2021, while performing on “DWTS,” her parents stayed in LA for three months to take care of their grandson. “They are rockstar grandparents,” says Kloots, “And I couldn’t have done it without them.” He also mentioned that he had a brother in San Francisco who went down to help Elvis.

Asking for help has been a constant struggle for the TV personality as she believes she is always looking for reassurance from “babysitters or people to help out for an hour or two.” Besides, she doesn’t want her son to miss out on spending quality time with her, but that also affects her routine, self-care plan and dating life.
‘Bullets Over Broadway’ Cast Says Being a Working Mother is ‘Very Hard’
Once again, Kloots speaks her mind about balancing work and motherhood, but this time on Instagram with a cute photo of herself with Elvis on the beach. The Blast noted that the March-born celebrity and her baby had an emotional separation at the time because she had to go to work.
They both cried, hugged and kissed repeatedly, indicating that they already missed each other. While revealing it in the caption, he added:
“Work/life balance as a working mother is very difficult. I love work, and I love my children. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, and I don’t think you can fully understand until you understand.”
“The Talk” co-host went on to say how lucky he is to have “amazing people” who reach out every day and to whom he will be forever grateful.
