An American Airlines passenger was arrested after he allegedly assaulted an airline employee on Monday, leaving “permanent” scars.
Bruno Luke Machiavelo, 29, was charged with aggravated battery, battery, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer for the alleged assault that occurred on a plane at Miami International Airport before takeoff, NBC Miami reported.
Machiavelo, of Connecticut, was on an American Airlines flight from MIA to LaGuardia Airport in New York when he asked a flight attendant if he could get medicine from his bag.
He told the attendant he was having a panic attack and needed medication from his checked luggage, according to a police report obtained by a local news station.
The airline employee explained that he was unable to take his medication at the time and Machiavelo allegedly replied that he had “taken down planes with panic attacks in the past,” according to the report.

The flight crew decided to remove Machiavelo from the plane and a manager came to talk to him. When he approached her, she allegedly started yelling and pushed him, the arrest report states.
On his way out of the plane, he punched the manager repeatedly in the face and threw him to the floor, where he hit his head on the jet’s bridge, police allege in the document.
The employee was taken to hospital and suffered “permanent scarring” to his face and head, according to a report by NBC.
Machiavelo is also accused of injuring a second American Airlines employee, a gate agent, whom he allegedly pushed as he fled the plane. The agent fell to the floor and injured his hand, the arrest report said.
Several other passengers stepped in to control the unruly man – holding him on the airport floor as he kicked and screamed until officers arrived at the gate, police said.
He resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody and later taken to a local hospital, according to the document.
“Monday evening, law enforcement was requested at Miami International Airport due to a disturbance on the jet bridge where a customer physically assaulted a team member,” an American Airlines spokesperson told The Post. “Acts of violence against our colleagues are not tolerated by American Airlines and we are committed to working closely with law enforcement in their investigation.”
“Our thoughts are with our team members, and we are making sure they have the support they need at this time.”
