Amit Mistry is an Indian actor, writer, and director. He is best known for playing Devendra Rathod in the 2020 Amazon Prime Original web series, ‘Bandish Bandits.’ He died of a heart attack on April 23, 2021.

Amit was born in 1974 (age 47 years; at time of death) in Mumbai. He completed his studies from Narsee Monjee College, Vile Parle in Mumbai, and later, he attended the Government Law College in Mumbai.

Career
Amit started his career as an actor in Hindi and Gujarati films. He also worked in many theater plays.
In 2000, he debuted in the Hindi film ‘Kya Kehna’ where he played the role of Preity Zinta’s brother.
He played supporting roles in various Bollywood films, such as ‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’ (2007), ‘Shor in the City’ (2010), ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ (2011), ‘Bey Yaar’ (2014), and ‘ A Gentleman’ (2017). He has worked as a dialogue writer for the Hindi film, ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ (2009). He has also directed the short film, ‘Two Cubes Pls’ (2013). He has also acted in various Hindi TV series, such as ‘Siapa’ (1998), ‘Dafa 420’ (2015), ‘Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie’ (2018), and ‘Tenali Rama’ (2020).
In 2020, he appeared in the Amazon Prime Original web series ‘Banish Bandits.’
Death
On 23 April 2021, he died of a heart attack at his residence in Mumbai. While reacting to his sudden death, his manager Maharshi Desai said,
I myself was very surprised. He is fine and is at home alone. He did not complain about any health problems. After breakfast, he felt pain in his heart and it was a heart attack and his family could not take him to the hospital. It is a great loss for the entertainment industry to lose an actor like him and I will miss working with him.”

- In an interview, when asked about his reaction to being a part of Sony SAB’s show Tenali Rama (2020), he said,
I have never been a part of a historical show and I was always attracted to play a role like Birbal. Although working in television is a bit busy, it is really fun to work in a show like Tenali Rama. I also personally like the Contiloe Pictures team. When I was approached for the role of Birbal, I was very happy and I immediately said yes to the role. I was sent a practice speech and when I read it, I enjoyed it and I thought the character of Birbal would come easily to me.
- In 2019, he underwent PRP treatment by Dr Umang Kothari at the hair and shape clinic.
