Amita Khopkar started her career with the popular period romantic drama film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha as Bano. But she rose to fame with her performance in the popular drama serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as Kalavati. The series revolves around Akshara and Naitik who get married. At first, they struggle to understand each other but gradually understand, support and love each other.
Amita then made headlines with her performance as Jwala Devi in Colors’ popular show Sasural Simar Ka. She is highly appreciated for her role as a woman who is charismatic, powerful, blunt and has her own style even though she comes from a village.
In her successful acting career, Amita has been a part of several big budget projects like Photo Prem, Gangaa, Hari Om Vithala, Lai Bhaari etc. Currently she is working in the television series Main Hoon Aparajita as Mrs. Singh.
