She represented Mexico at the ‘Miss Universe 2020’ beauty pageant held on May 16, 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The contest was postponed from 2020 to May 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak. She won the pageant and became the 69th Miss Universe. She became the third woman from Mexico to win the Miss Universe title after Lupita Jones and Ximena Navarrete.
In the final round of the competition, she was asked by the judges to give her views on the changing standards of beauty, she replied,
